Question about Fujitsu Plasmavision 42" TV

Open Question

Fujitsu Plasmavision 42" TV Pixelation

I received this monitor a month ago from a friend and they said that there were horizontal green lines in the picture. I took the monitor home and did not have the same issue. Instead when hooked up a computer, or Xbox the screen would act strange. It will look okay until something moves across the screen. It appears the problem happens at certain points in the screen. if the window/ icon moves through this section the screen will go black or pixelate (making a great majority of the pixels cyan or magenta). When the picture goes black the screen is still on and if I move around the picture will come back.

After a bit of testing I found that The problem seems to be connected to the colors in a general area. If point 300x100 is blue (for example) the screen will freak out.

SOURCE: Has anyone seen this problem in a Fujitsu PDS

Hi
Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems to be an issue with Y board however, Z and the logic board should also be checked. These boards are located on the right side of the unit and to check them you'll have to open the back of the unit. Once you have opened the back also check for any blown/bulged capacitors. All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise & know how to solder/re-solder components as these units contain high voltages even when in off position. Please accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Drivers for Fujitsu Plasmavision 42" Display

At http://www.plasmavision.com/tech_faq.htm the following answer is not exactly true:

Q: I'm running Windows XP on my Plasmavision display. Can you please send
me, or tell me where I can download, the video drivers for this model?

A: Video drivers are part of the video card installed in your computer, rather than the monitor showing the computer's images. Please check with your video card manufacturer. All Fujitsu displays are Plug-N-Play devices, so there are no drivers available.

For the PDS4203-WH circa 1999, there was an optional video card based on an S-3 ViRGE chipset that allowed you to connect your computer to the display and get the best use of the 852 (H) x 480 (V) display. Without this, almost all video cards fail to display fonts so that they are perfectly legible, which can be quite problematic, lol. Hopefully, this problem was resolved in later models, and they truly are Plug n Play.

Back in the day, this was a great monitor for playing video games. Outcast, from Infogrames, was gorgeous.

No not power supply, it's the X and Y sustain boards. These boards have to be replaced as a pair.

Turns off after awhile

This is most likely caused by the Main Power pcb.

See Fujitsu Service Bulletin on this problem in a similar model from Fujitsu. -see link below

A competent service technician should be able to implement the service bulletin.
A similar service bulletin is probably available for your model. Request bulletin from Fujitsu 'service@fujitsugeneral.com'
