Question about Bosch 24 in. SHY66C02 / SHY66C06 Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Bosch shy66c06 doesn't turn off when door opened

We just had it apart, and when we were done, it was filling fine. We ran it for a week and it seemed fine. In the middle of the most recent wash cycle, it got really loud, and now it just keeps trying to drain; after setting it to start a new cycle, it seems unable to fill. Worse, when the door is pulled open, it should "pause" - but it doesn't; it's as if the door hadn't been opened, though the cycle is in limbo because it can't fill.

This is a partial solution. After reading lots of other similar descriptions (none of which were automatically identified by FixYa, btw), we realized it was probably water in the 'catch basin' or whatever that pan (white plastic) below the sump pump is. Sure enough, there was about 1/2" of water in the pan. We hoped that by overriding the float switch and watching it run through a cycle, we would be able to see where the leak came from. Unfortunately, running a rinse & hold (10 min) didn't do it, so we are about to run it on a quick wash (56 min). To do this, we have left everything connected (power & water), and removed the toe kick cover, to give us access to the works below the main compartment. A long chopstick works well to get at the red float switch actuator; we used two of them to dip a washcloth in the water to soak, and then remove the washcloth and wring it over a bowl. Slow, and tedious. But the alternative was to do the 3 hr teardown just to get the pan dried before we could run it through a complete cycle. We're still hoping this will let us see the leak.

Should have said, the initial problem was a leak, and the first thing we did with this DW when we tore it down was replace the sump pump (per RepairClinic's recommendations). The actual issue was probably a cracked hose (which we replaced when replacing the sump pump didn't fix the leak); if we'd watched as it cycled, we'd have seen that. Further, we didn't think much about the door gasket at the time, because the problem seemed trivial: as the DW started its cycle, the small tray at the front began to have a trickle of water in it. We now think that that trickle was steady throughout the cycle, and probably is responsible for the water in the tray - we didn't see any other leaks as it ran through its cycle. We've ordered a door gasket, and will update after it's installed. It's possible that the whole problem with this DW was the cracked hose and a bad door gasket.

The take home message is, if you have a problem, take the dw far apart enough that you can see what it's doing, yet leave it plugged in - try to see what it's doing wrong before you spend a bundle on parts you may not need.

So we replaced the gasket; the old one was clearly compromised, and at first the new gasket seemed to solve the problem. However, after two "quick wash" cycles, when we opened the DW to clear the trays, the drain kicked on again. aargh. There was water in the pan. So we still have a leak somewhere. The good news was that the gasket solved the problem of water filling the catch tray at the bottom of the door - it was dry. But we still have a mystery leak that is filling the pan. Our next inspection will be the pump that my husband installed the first time he took it apart. Maybe he didn't get one of its seals installed properly.

SOURCE: Bosch shx33a starts, fills, then stops. Drains OK when forced to end cycle.

I know this may sound very silly but i had the same problem with mine and all i had to do was pull it out a bit as the drainage pipe at the back was only slightly sqashed against the cupboard but it does matter

SOURCE: dishwasher keeps running

Open up the door, get out the control unit. Pry open the unit's plastic case and look at the board. Burnt spot? If so, the heater circuit burnt out (happens a lot on Bosches) and the control is waiting for the water temp to rise, but of course it dosn't. Thus- long wash times.

Bosch dishwasher overflows thru front door

Is there an opening on the right hand side of the inside of the machine?I had this happen and it turned out it was because this hole (opening) needs to be clear during operation. Try running it with nothing on the right hand side and if it doesn't overflow, that's the problem. You can only put short stuff in the back bottom rack on that side.

Hi, we have a Bosch SHU53EO6UC/14 dishwasher. It is getting stuck in wash and isn't advancing. We think it may be the timer but there are lots of references to running a test program. Unfortunately...

My Bosch DW SHU5302 also got stuck during a cycle and ran and ran. Turns out this is a known problem with these DW's. The problem is that a trace on the main board burns off that controls the heater. If the heater doesn't come on then the DW keeps running waiting for the water to heat up. Re-soldering this trace fixes this problem. If you get a repair guy out, he will only change the board. They are not allowed to re-solder which doesn't fix the problem for long as the same trace will burn off. Did this about 8 years ago and it is still fine.

Bosch washer reverts to rinse and hold. Detergent dispenser doesn't open. Whatever other cycle is pressed (after much pressing) the machine goes into rinse mode.

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

If you can provide the model number (usually on inside of door frame or tub frame around door opening as shown here for bosch)

...I'll see what I can find for you.

There are many possible scenarios so I'll need to clarify the make & model before moving forward.

Dishwasher starts, then won't move on from the "Empting" portion of the cycle

I am having trouble with my 5 year old Bosch. When I turn it on it is only on when the door is open. When I shut the door the computer believes it is off. I had a technician come and he tested the switch (which was fine) and said the problem must be in the computer. Then then quoted me $350 to fix it. I would rather buy the computer myself @ $120 and install it. What is your opinion?
