Re: when it prints it comes out very faint
Remove the toner . look in on the left hand side where it goes you should see to half loops springs. these might be dirty or bent . this is what gives the toner the charge, if you want to clean them go ahead, if you want to bend them turn the power off first those are high voltage pins.

This is actually a Muratec machine. This is not an uncommon fault and it is ALWAYS a faulty toner cartridge. Although you say you have changed it, I doubt you have replaced it with a new one.
Change it I can guarantee it will cure it. I know as I am a muratec engineer!
When you see light print it can be from a few things. This is basically a laser printer with a fax machine so the same problems exist in both. The most common cause by far is simply low toner. If you take out the toner cartidge and gentl shake it side to side then put it back in. Now try printing again. This should be much darker. This may only last a few dozen pages (but can go a quite a bit more if you are lucky) but it shows you that you need to get a new toner cartridge. The other causes can be a image setting in the fax. In the control panel it will show you a setting for how dark it will print. Normally it is in the middle of the range. The last common thing is a fusor wire. This normally shows up as a error first but it can slowly fail. The fusor is the heater that bonds the toner to the paper. If it doesn't get hot enough then not all the toner sticks and you get light printing.
The drum is the part of the unit that actually does the transfer of the toner onto the paper. Each toner cartridge does about 2,000 pages and the drum needs to be replaced with the ~6th toner cartridge change (varies with use). Order part DR-250 from Brother or any office supply place that would carry the part.
To replace (wait until print quality decreases or it reads change drum now and stops working). Turn off the unit and let it cool. Close the document tray and the extension and open the top cover. Remove the drum carefully and place it where the toner will not spill. Remove the toner cartridge (if it is still good) and set it aside to put in the new drum. Wrap the old cartridge up and dispose of properly (not in the domestic trash). Keep the new drum out of the light (keep it sealed until needed) as much as possible. Insert the toner cartridge in the new drum. Then insert the unit into the Fax machine. (Hold by the handles) Close the top cover and the starter sheet should be ejected by the machine.
Usually when it prints light on one side and normal on the other, it's either the drum (which you replaced) a dirty corona wire, or the toner is unevenly distributed in the cartridge. You can removed the toner cartridge and gently drop it from a distance of about 4-5 inches to dislodge any caked up toner. This is normal in a cartridge that has sat a while or if the fax machine is in a room with high humidity. Hope this answers your question and best of luck. Greg
pull out your drum unit and look inside machine above where the drum would be. you should see a black assembly that runs left to right with a "****" glass. may need a flashlight. clean that glass off with a clean rag. sometimes toner "scatter" will get on glass and cause this.
This could be a couple of different things. The first is that you are running out of ink or toner. Or you could have your toner save turned on.
You can conserve toner using this feature.
When you set Toner Save to On, print
appears lighter. The default setting is Off.
1 Press Menu/Set, 1, 6, 1.
2 Press ▲ or ▼ to select On (or Off).
3 Press Stop/Exit.
If it is a real genuine Brother toner. Not a reman. You may also need to change the drum. If you have a user manual, it will show you where the drum life setting is in the menu structure. Make sure the little glass window inside on the right is clean so it can read the toner level. Make sure the toner save feature is turned off.
You may have your machine set to print in "toner save" mode. Check your machine settings by printing a list. Also, some generic toner cartridges have too much polymer in the mix and will print light copies. If you change back to OEM toner, you may have to change the drum too, as the extra polymer stays in the drum unit and weakens the mix.
