Question about Lexmark Printers & Copiers

Lexmark Z33 When Pluggeg in, the two green lights on right panel go on, and stay on until unplugged; won't turn off or on. When trying to print, a sign comes on; it says "the printer cannot contact the computer."

Welcome to Fixya! You need to Follow these Directions. Unplug the Power and Cables from the Printer, Uninstall and Reinstall the Printer Software, Plug cables and Power Back in, Print a Test Page. If this does not work you need to go to the Manufacturers Website and Update the Drivers also.

Try reinstall the printer driver again.

I installed new cartridges (Lexmark brank both black and color) and my printer won't work now.


A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).


If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer from your computer.
  2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.
  3. Delete the Lexmark print object.
  4. Reboot computer.
  5. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box where the power cord is plugged into on the back of the printer, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
  6. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to the computer.
  7. Wait until your computer fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, try to print a document to verify that the problem is fixed.

Computer won't detect printer

Long thin plastic piece fell out of Lexmark Z33


Google your printer, try pcappliancerepair.com. This item goes from one side of your printer to the other, passing through the cartridges holder. Look for the places it attaches. You may have to move the cartridge holder to the center to install the plastic.

I lost my CD drivers for Lexmark Z33 and X110 and I can't print or use the machines. I am trying to download the drivers but driver dectective want to install which I did. Now each time I try to download...


Do not download driver detective, download the original driver from Lexmark website below.

Also, instead of double clicking on driver installer after downloading, click right mouse button and chose "Run as administrator".

If you do not have the disk you must download the software from Internet, follow instructions below,

A web page will open, follow instructions, select model, select operative system etc., and click on download .
Chose to download the file in my documents when asked.
After downloading, find the file,double click on the file ,then if you get in troubles, follow the instructions below to reset and reinstall drivers:

  • Unplug printer USB.
  • Go to control panel >> installed printers in Windows and remove (delete ) any installed printer from printer list.
  • Download driver from website, or use the disk and run the install file.
  • Follow driver installation wizard.
  • Plug back printer when prompted from installation wizard.

Lexmark Z23 problem


Use a different usb port in your computer. but before you unplug it and replug it make sure your printer is off. Then plug it into a different port then turn it back on.

While on a site (33 page long library book sale site) I must have inadvertently hit something that gave the command to print these 33 pages! I have now unplugged the printer because I do NOT want these...


i dont have a lexmark but i think all printers are generally the same. you should be able to open up the print box, usually by clicking (or right clicking) the icon on your screen (bottom bar) once opened, you should be able to cancel print jobs, by right clicking on the document name in the list and selecting cancel. like i say i dont have lexmark, so may not help.

Printing problems


The z33 is really old and probably will not get Vista support. Similar printers are really cheap so your best bet is to replace it. Otherwise install the printer as a simillar printer that Vista does recognise. I used to run my z45 as a z42 in Vista as Lexmark did not have Vista drivers for the z45 but Vista came with z42 support. It worked!!! Look for the z32 or something close to z33, you may have to do some trial and error until you find a good one. Not all function might work properly though, I wasn't able to auto-calibrate my z45.
