Question about Dell Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
If you using a SATA harddrive try to unplugged the sata cable from the HDD. Use a rubber eraser to clean of the terminals ( those small copper like plates ) then plug it back again. hope this helps but if not you may need to check the harddrive by plugging it to other computers if it does not work ypu may need to replace it.
