The error indicates that the AVH-X2500BT can't read the disc. The DVD could be dirty or scratched or upside down in the tray. Try cleaning the disc or putting in another DVD. The other issue is a mechanical or electrical problem with the unit. Turn off the car's ignition then press the Reset button on the unit. The reset button is recessed and has to be pressed with a pen tip (it's on the far left of the front button array).

The manuals for the unit is available here: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/Car/AVH-X2500BT_OwnersManual010213.pdf . See page 4 (page 7 of the PDF) for the location of the Reset button. You will need Adobe Reader or a similar program to read the manual. If the reset doesn't work, you ,may need to have the unit serviced. (Check that your electrical system doesn't have any fuse or ground problems first.)

I hope this helps.

Thank's, The unit is new and installed myself with the needed connectors supplied by the company. All the wiring is matched up. the only wire I have not hooked up is the gree wire to the parking brake Any thoughts?

  • Cindy Wells Jan 11, 2013

I believe you need to connect the light green wire for the parking brake to use the DVD. There is an interlock that prevents the unit from playing a DVD while you are driving. (This avoids driver distraction.) Unfortunately, it interferes with normal use if the DVD monitor is set up to be viewed only by back seat passengers. Cindy Wells

Thank's, I will be connecting the wire over this weekend. Then I will retry playing a DVD.

You're welcome. I hope the unit works when the parking brake is on after you finish the wiring. Cindy Wells

AVH P3100. What does error code 02-9e indicate?

Error 02-9E Means there is a scratched or otherwise unreadable disc. The problem could be the laser as well. This error can mean any of the following:
Scratched disc
Improper media Bad burn/copy of disc
Improperly adjusted laser - requires an alignment
Dirty Laser Lens (smokers will experience this more often)
Laser failure etc.
Try changing the CD/DVD you are using and if you are still getting the same error, then try to visit you nearest Pioneer Service center and get your headunit's laser tested for allignment. How much you'd invest for repair must be below the cost of a new one or it's not worth it.

Why is it error-10 on my pioneer?

The manual is clear about this. There is a power failure to the bluetooth. If switching off and on (ignition switch) does not help, you should contact a dealer or a repair centre.

Pioneer avh-p6500dvd error 02 9e

there is a small little rubber band that drives the gears that opens the tray. It is possible that this has either broken or come off track. You may need to pull the unit out and remove the cover to see, or if your not comfortable doing this take it to like a best buy or something and their techs can help you out.

Avh-p5900dvd... I keep getting error -02-9e and it wont play cd,s or dvd,s can you help.

Owner's manual doesn't really say what the -02-9e error code means other than a disc error. They do recommend resetting the unit as a possible solution:
  1. Turn the ignition off.
  2. Remove the faceplate.
  3. On the right side of the front of the head unit (with the faceplate removed), press the reset button with a ball point pen.
You may have to call Pioneer directly to find out what the -02-9e code means specifically. 1-800-421-1404

try removing power from the unit for about 5 minutes and plug the harness back in. If that doesn't work, it will need to be repaired.
