Question about Samsung DVD-V5500 DVD Player/VCR

Disc cannot be played; please check the disc.

Every time we load a DVD, we get a message that the disc cannot be played and to check the disc. The VCR portion works just fine. Any ideas on what we need to do?

I've experienced this error message also and now I never pop a DVD into my computer and use Roxio or Nero to determine disk space. I keep the DVD-R for recording movies totally away from the computer. Having better luck.

Make sure you are using the right disk IE, DVD-R or DVD+R. Most Newer DVD player's will play DVD-R but very few play DVD+R

DVD won't play

Its Sounds as if your DVD went kaput this tends to be a problem with most combination players usually the VCR goes first also you may need to run a cleaning CD made for DVD players maybe that will help.

Disc error message when load DVD

Are you loading to play or to record?
Commercial DVDs should play.
DVDs for recording may not be recognized by your drive. First make sure that the disc is blank. You must insert a blank disc of the proper format: DVD-R or RW, DVD+R or RW. Even with the proper format, some brands may not behave the same way as other brands.
