SOURCE: No post, only motherboard light on, green.

You might try resetting the bios by removing the battery and the power cable. If there are pins to short do this too after removing the battery and the power cable.

"power supply seems to be working?" If you had before this happened a issue where had to turn it on a few times to get it up---suspect bad caps in power supply---A look inside that will tell you if this is the issue or not. If the supply can be removed (most can) it can be examined or tested by most repair shops for little or nothing.

see attached photos of what bad caps look like in case you remove the supply to look at it.

HP Pavilion Media Center m8200n upon turning on it only beeps, and led light blinks twice contiuously, with no signal to monitor?

Power On LED Carl?

I ask that because most Power Supply's that HP uses, have an LED on the back also.
(HiPro, Delta, and Bestec)

The LED is now working as a diagnostic LED.
(Light Emitting Diode, so stating LED light, is redundant)

The beeps you hear are BIOS Beep Codes.
The computer's way of telling you something is wrong, and an area to look into for it.

As stated, it's a Code.
One example;
3 Short beeps,...pause, 3 Short beeps,...pause, etc.

With the Power On LED blinking 2 times, then a pause; indicates,

A) Computer is dirty inside. To include Power Supply

Computer is unplugged from power, Anti-Static Procedures are FOLLOWED; and a can or two of compressed air for computers, is used to clean it out.

I have a procedure to follow if you are interested.

B) Processor (CPU) fan is not seated correctly, and/or is Not functioning, or functioning properly.

Case open, and computer on; see if the Processor fan is;
1) Spinning

2) Looks to be spinning the proper speed.

No, I don't expect you to count the Revolutions per Minute, lol!
My reference is a general one. If the Processor fan looks to be turning slowly, you'll know it

3) Processor fan spins intermittently. Spin, slow down, stop....spin, etc.

C) Thermal Paste in-between Processor, and the finned Heatsink that sits on it, has dried up.
Lost it's thermal conductivity properties.

Top of Processor, and Bottom of Heatsink; MUST be THOROUGHLY cleaned, and fresh, new Thermal Paste applied.

I have a procedure for this too.

I can guide you step by step.

Post back in a Comment.

Computer power on but no beep,no amber light only power light and the fan works, what's wrong.

WARNING: Before you start troubleshooting remember that you are dealing with electricity that can KILL. http://www.kitchentablecomputers.com/static.php - rules Only work inside the computer case when the power has been switched off and disconnected. Never open the power source. Some of the below steps recommend removing physical parts within the computer. While in the computer it is highly recommend that you be aware of ESD and its potential hazards Remove the memory modules from their slots. Take the opportunity to clean the slots on the motherboards and the memory module connectors. Use compressed air to blow dust away and clean contacts with a soft cloth. Do not use a metallic vacuum cleaner if it touches any component it may create a short and cause damage to the motherboard or other components. Do not use solvent that may attract dust and never poke things like cotton buds in to slots. lightly rub an alcohol (Methylated Spirits) on a cloth not to hard let the alcohol do the work on the copper gold or silver tabs and r Allow the pins to dry. They will air dry in a matter of minutes. If reseating the memory did not resolve the issue try swapping the location of the memory. If you have only one stick of memory in the computer try moving it to another slot and then boot the computer. Check the memory module and memory slot contacts. They are either copper tin or gold. The colour will tell you which they are. Mixing tin and gold can result in corrosion that prevents proper contact. Look for any sign of physical damage to the memory module, memory slots or the motherboard. Reseat the memory modules. You should hear an audible click when they are in place. Do not use too much force to reseat the memory module in to the slot this can cause damage to the module, slot or motherboard. The hardware that you are trying to access is damaged or failing.

The device drivers for the hardware are faulty or incompatible. Could be a problem with the Hard Drive or the Hard drives PCB http://www.onepcbsolution.com/ There is a connection problem such as a bad cable for internal hard drives
Test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive IDE,SATA
the leads from your MOTHERBOARD TO THE HARD DRIVE make sure they have a secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty if its a flat 40pin ide this will be the first to fail Make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd and floppy (If Applicable) have secure connections and are not faulty. or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs power and data to travel through every working device and continue its cycle and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

Hope this helps.

My "hp pavilion a220n" won't

Check all wires for loose connections--- if the memory was wrong or something, it would still attempt to boot but stop during the POST and start to beep

Computer won't start, solid amber light, no fans, no keyboard, nothing. There is power to monitor and modem. What's wrong and how can I fix it?

That my Friend is the Yellow Light of Death, anyway turn on Your PC, as it starts You will here some beeps especially on a Dells. Count the beeps , there will be a slight pause so it will beep once then pause then beep again. Count the beeps and that will be Your code. Go to Dell Support site and look up code. Most of the time a Yellow amber light means that there is trouble with Your Motherboard but thats not to say its the Motherboard itself, during a power outage with no surge protected, it could have possibly burned out Your RAM, Processor, Heat fan, even the power supply itself. So look up the code and at least You'll have a better chance of finding the solution, Good Luck

Sorry, I summarized the problem in the 'add details' Section

If you are capable of opening the case and reseating your memory and video card, try that first.
