Washers - Harmony Washer Error Message or Code
The Harmony washer electronics can automatically determine if problems exist with the machine. Sometimes an error code can also be present because of things the machine cannot control: like changes in house voltage, water pressure, or temperature.
"A problem has been detected with this unit" will be displayed on the screen.
The most common solution for this message is to turn the machine OFF and then ON. However, this message will sometimes cause the control to stop the machine from working. With this type of error, the control panel will need to be reset. The following steps will allow you to reset your control.
1. Clear the ERROR from the screen: Press and hold the MY CYCLES and BACK buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. The control will display any recorded errors. Please write down what error codes are shown on your screen in case service is needed. If a MORE icon is displayed on the screen, press MORE to list additional errors. When the EXIT button appears, press EXIT.
2. Remove Power: Follow the onscreen instructions to remove power (unplug unit) and then immediately plug unit back in.
3. Clear Setup Mode: After power is restored, a setup screen that begins with "Congratulations..." will be shown. DO NOT PRESS the OK button shown at the bottom of the screen. Press the START/STOP and POWER buttons simultaneously until the Home Screen is displayed. Your unit is ready to function normally.

There's no specific way in the self-diagnostics that can confirm which specific part is bad. Actual tests must be done at least with the Hall Sensor and the motor. Please be noted that the wiring connections of the Hall Sensor and the motor with the inverter cannot be ruled out completely. It is prudent to make sure that the connections are tight and snug fit as absence of such can result in intermittent connection problem which will trigger the machine to prompt the "motor not rotating properly" warning.
The test needs to be done with the motor is the winding resistance between any two of its three terminals. The normal winding resistance is around 8 ohms between any two terminals. Any significant discrepancy in the resistance readings renders the motor inoperable and it must be replaced.
Measure between pins 1 (blue) and 4 (yellow) and pins 2 (red) and 4 (yellow) with the Hall sensor plugged into the inverter board. Rotate the spin basket by hand. There should be 12VDC pulses as the basket is rotated. If pulses are present, the Hall sensor is good; otherwise, it must be replaced.
It can safely and surely be concluded that the inverter is bad if both the Hall Sensor and the motor show no problem. If you want to verify, disconnect the Hall sensor plug from the inverter board. Check voltage on pins 3 (brown) and 4 (yellow) on the inverter board. There should be approximately 12VDC. If not, the inverter board is bad and must be replaced.
Please accept the solution should you find it helpful and/or informative. Accepting the solution will not stop you from posting comments or additional information. You can still communicate with the expert should you need further advice regarding the issue stated herein.

The message merely notifies you that there's a problem. Enter service mode in order to get critical information on the status of various components of the washer. This mode will help you identify failed or improper operation of components and systems. The service mode does not use error codes to identify problems. Instead, the LCD screen displays a list of components or systems to be checked if a problem is detected. Once the service mode is entered, all membrane key panel buttons are disabled.
Press the POWER key to turn the washer on. If the washer is on and the HOME screen is displayed, press HELP and the main help screen is displayed. If the home screen is not displayed, press HOME on the keypanel then press HELP to display the main help screen.
Press and hold MY CYCLES and BACK simultaneously for 3 seconds: The control will display any recorded errors. If no errors have been recorded, press EXIT to return to the HOME screen. If errors have been recorded, post it back. A MORE icon will be displayed on the LCD screen if additional problems have been recorded. Press MORE to list additional errors.
Use the BACK pad on the key panel membrane to scroll back through the list. If MORE is not displayed then there are no additional errors. Make a note of the listed errors. Press EXIT, the screen prompts you to unplug the washer before servicing.
Pressing exit clears all error messages and activates the setup mode program. Disconnect power and make necessary repairs. After the problem has been identified in service mode and repairs have been made, the unit prompts you to run a setup/self diagnostic check. The self diagnostic check consists of a series of system tests to ensure the washer is operating correctly. Follow the on-screen instructions.
When all errors have been corrected and the setup/self diagnostic mode has been completed, the washer displays the following screen. Press OK to return the washer to normal operation.
