The same problem as explained earlier. The VCR power is on but will not obey the controlls, either by the remote or the machine itself

It appears its locked into safe mode...i would unplug it and leave it for about an hour or so and try plugging it back in and see if you get the same message.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

While I would agree that SAFE would indicate that Child Lock has been activated, I am tempted to think that the primary issue is a mechanical problem. It would appear that loading a tape does turn the LG on but thereafter freezes. Might it be that a fault exists either a worm gear out of alignment or the belt slipping or cut. It would then be necessary to open the unit for a look and see. If you do, follow the patch of the tape. Note if the small motor driving a belt is turning and in turn the belt is turning a bigger wheel that is responsible for the extraction of the actual tape, movement of the spreader arms to wrap the tape on the video head. Failure of the motor, belt or wheel would halt the loading process, in some cases auto eject the tape and thereafter either display an error code or auto power off.

Pls postback if you would consider a DIY (do-it-yourself) or perhaps seek the services of a qualified VCR professional.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Lg hx995tzw multi-region code required

I am unable to locate the specific code for this unit, but each maker frequently uses a single code for all of their models. Here is a setup that works on a bunch of LG models, but not specifically yours:

If the remote controls more than the DVD player, select DVD on the remote
Remove discs from unit, so 'No Disc' appears
Press Pause/Step and 314159
The display will show 'Code' or 'FF'. If not, Press Pause/Step, Enter and then 314159.
Press 0 for all regions
Press the Pause/Step button again
Turn unit off with Power button. Power on again after 30 seconds and the machine will be set to the selected region.

Problem with DVD-VCR combo

I found if you disconnect the power and keep it off for thirty seconds or so to let it reboot, the "SAFE" problem disappears.
