Usually stems from a short on the power supply board. I have a 37MF337B/37 37" that had the same problem. Turned out the set had 5 leaky capacitors and a shorted diode on the power supply board.

Let verify first to narrow down to where the problem can be. First, check the on screen sound set up menu to make sure the speakers are not set to OFF. If the setting is OK, then attach the powered PC speakers to the Audio Line out RCA jacks to see if you can get the sound there, if you do, then the problem can be in the power amp circuits, if you do not get the sound at RCA jacks, then the problem can be in the sound processor circuit. Please post back what you find.

I have a philips plasma tv model 42pfl5432d/37. The power suppy is chirping with a black screen. I replaced the 3 bulbing capacitors but I am still having the same problem is there something else?

Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; especially to Plasma Displays, which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

How can i fix my Philips model 42PFL5432D/37 Flat screen TV that powers on, but no picture.

The main board to your TV is faulty. It is best to contact the authorized service center for Philips; because, it will be very difficult to get the main board to Philips brand TVs, and after the replacement, a firmware update too will be necessary. This is a skilled work. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

based on what you clarified and my experience I'd bet the problem is in one of the inverters, most likely the main inverter.

Look at the board part number - it's usually imprinted on the board itself - and look on eBay or Google for it.

Another way to go about it is to type in the model number (usually without /37) followed by the word "inverter", e.g. "42pfl5432d inverter".

My search yielded result board number VIT70023.80 and from there you start searching for this on eBay...find a reputable seller (like me, except I don't think I have it) and buy it.

It might be the slave inverter, it might be the master, but from what you describe it's more likely the master.

It's possible to nail it down, but it will require multimeter and some extra time.

Hope that helps!

Power button will not come on either manually or with remote. Cable is working and power is on the circuit.

I have a Phillips. If you have a menu remote press tv. I panicked when that happened to me. I have RR and if you press the yellow A
and ctr at the top left for about 30 seconds should reset remote.
