Question about Acer Aspire 5536-5224 Notebook
Connect your wireless router to your broadband modem using your Ethernet cable. The Ethernet cable will plug into the rear of the broadband modem via the available Ethernet port. Depending on the model of your wireless router, the rear of the unit will provide a port for the Ethernet cable that is listed as either "WLAN, "WAN" or "Internet".
Find your wireless router's manual and locate the special Internet address within its pages. Additionally, there should be a default password provided by the wireless router manufacturer. Make note of it.
Access a browser on a Internet-connected computer or device (whether that be your Acer Aspire 4520 or not) and input the provided URL address from the router manual. Hit "Enter" and, when asked, provide the default password. This will give you access to the settings of your router.
Select a name for your wireless LAN and then choose whether you wish to password protect it or not. You will be asked to select WEP or WPA security encryption. It is recommended you go with WPA encryption as it is newer and more advanced, although if your router is older it may only support WEP encryption. Fortunately, both WEP and WPA will provide you with adequate security against typical would-be unauthorized network users.
Choose a password for your new wireless network, and hit "Apply" to store all these settings.
Prepare to join your new wireless LAN. Your Acer Aspire 4520 has an internal WiFi card, so it is already equipped and ready for wireless Internet. Click the wireless icon that is located on the right side of the bottom toolbar on your Windows desktop.
Peruse the list of available networks within range that pops up after clicking the wireless icon. Select the name of your network and input your password if necessary.

Connect to internet using ethernet cable and update wifi driver from makers site, if this does not work then buy a usb wifi adapter off ebay or from a local store, put it into usb port and install the driver from the disc supplied with the adapter and off you go (far cheaper than replacing the wifi card)
