Re: remote control no longer working
The problem is not buying a remote but get the proper code. All remotes "carry" Hitachi but they won't specify models, just list you the codes.
So, buying a remote will be something like a lottery: feed your codes, and BINGO.... or nothing!
So, my only advice: get a good one, maybe one of those selled for DirecTV and cross your fingers

Install new batteries and make sure to install with correct polarity, i.e, + to + and - to -.Ensure you are pointing the remote control directly at the TV. Check to see if there is any object between the product and the remote control causing obstruction. Ensure that the remote operating mode is set to TV. If you cannot set the remote properly, please give me the model number of your unit.
First, is the DVD player output (Video out, audio out) connected to the TV input?
Have you used the Yellow cable from DVD video out to the TV video in? Mixing the audio and video cables will result in no signal.
Have you selected the proper input with your TV remote control. Most plasmas accept a variety of input signals; you must select the right one.
I deal with a number of these issues. Usually the connections are made improperly or the correct input source is not selected with the TV remote.
Put a DVD in the player and press play. Be sure you have made the proper connection from DVD player video/audio out into an auxiliary or video input on the TV. These could be labeled Line 1 or Line 2. With the DVD playing, run through the input options on your remote control. The button might be marked source, video or input. The screen should display your choices i.e. video 1, video 2, etc. When you see your DVD program, you've got the right combination.
couple of ideas ... on the TV look for the button named input you can change it to the one you cave connected to there .. I am looking up the remote press the TV button then the menu button to move through the on screen input control
