Question about Office Equipment & Supplies
I have an older copier and when I turned it on today it showed this code and I have not used it for a couple of days. It said to try turning the main power switch off and then back on which I did and code still shows.
SC542 error = Fusing temp. warming-up error.
The fusing temp. does not reach the fusing standby temp. within 125 seconds after the main power switch is turned on.
Thermistor defective or out of position
Fusing lamp open
Power supply brd defective
ALWAYS DISCONNECT THE POWER FROM THE WALL BEFORE WORKING ON MACHINE
*** replace the thermistor AND the thermofuse*** If one went bad then the other will probably go bad soon. ( 95% it is one of these). You can check lamp first by disconnecting one end and putting a meter on it to see if it is open -- if open then replace.

SOURCE: functional problem code SC542-00
Enter SP mode > Clear (yellow) button > 1 0 7 > and press and hold the Stop (red) button for 3 seconds.
Then switch off and on the machine.
If error still there, probably you have a problem in the fusing unit.
Possible causes are:
One of the fusing lamp is open circuit;
Fusing unit connector defective; and
Power supply board.
Good luck and please rate me, thanks.
