Try manually choosing lower resolutions in your xbox display settings. My Insignia HDTV does that when switching resolutions like on Hulu in between commercials and then back to the show but only for a second or so. Also does this when going from the loading screens to the game screens for a few seconds when playing the game Split/Second

What do i do if a red ring comes on the xbox

This problem depends on how many red lights there are. The problems can be from a corrupt hard drive, to an overheated console. In this solution, I will mention all problems, and solutions.

1 Red Ring means hardware failure in your Xbox console. It can also mean hard drive corruption. There are multiple solutions to this problem. Turn off your console and unplug every single cord, cable, and memory device on your console. Wait about twenty seconds, and plug everything back in into it's origanal spot, and make sure everything is connected correctly. If the problem still occurs, try unplugging the console's hard drive, then turn on your Xbox 360. If your console then works after this, it could mean your hard drive is corrupt, or broken. Make sure to also disconnect all other memory units out of your console, such as a memory card. If the problem continues, contact Microsoft Support at the following link.

http://www.xbox.com/support/contact

2 Red Rings means that your Xbox 360 console is overheating. Overheating is a common problem with Xbox 360 consoles. Turn off your Xbox console. Make sure it is in a roomy spot, and not near a heated spot. Also make sure it is not on top of a towel, or anyplace cluttered. As seen here,

natesprague6_4.jpg NEVER cool off a Xbox 360 in a refridgerator, or freezer. This may cause further problems to your console.

3 Red Rings means there is a hardware problem, or something wrong with your power supply. To solve this, make sure the color on your power supply is always orange, when your Xbox 360 is off. Also make sure the color is always GREEN when it is on. If it is RED when you turn your Xbox on, try unplugging every cord, cable, and memory device on your console, and plugging it back in about 20 seconds after, and make sure all plugs are connected securely into it's socket. If this does not resolve your issue, contact Microsoft support at the link at the following link,

http://www.xbox.com/support/contact

4 Red Rings indicates that there is no audio/video plugs detected from your AV plug. This is a simple problem to fix. Make sure all plugs are connected firmly into the correct color sockets on your TV. The following colors are the ones that need to be plugged in a Flat Screen TV,
2 Red, 1 Green, 1 Blue, 1 White. As seen here,

natesprague6_5.jpg Although, on a small, old TV, you usually only need to connect the yellow, and white cables. Make sure if you're using an old TV that does not support HD, switch the AV cable to 'TV', if it is switched to 'HD'. If this does not work, you may have to buy a new AV cable.

I hope this helped you, and the Fixya community! Contact me if you're still having trouble!

I played my xbox 360 on a hd tv, then i switched to a regular tv and the picture wont work. What should i do?

If you are using the video cable (multi-colored jacks on one end, big trapezoid on the other) with the switch on it, make sure the switch is on tv and not hdmi. If you are using the hdmi cable (small trapezoid connection on both ends) then you need to find the video cable. You should also check and make sure that your screen settings are not for HD.
Go to:
System settings
---Console Settings
-------Display
----------HDTV settings
If the HDTV settings option is available then you have the hdmi cable attached or the switch is flipped on the video cable causing the 360 to think you're transmitting to an HDTV.
Hope this helps you.

I plugged my XBOX 360 Elite in and it tells me unsupported signal check output device. on my tv i do not get sound or audio on my buddies flat screen he gets sound but no video

then clicked A three times 1 for settings 2 for console settings and 3 for display then i pressed up (for going to d up (for going to HDTV...because hdtv is not selectable on standard cable)then again press A for going to HDTV then A again (for selecting to cable)then again press A for going to HDTV then A again (for selecting to optimal resolution)then go up and down and select any thing and press right for yes option
hope this helps i did all of it by hearing sound only(without seeing)

Black screen with white bots on screen.(Xbox 360)

It's probably just the red ring, you can fix that with almost ALL 3 red ring fixes.

Cause there both CAUSED by the motherboard shifting.

Google PENNY TRICK, it doenst always work UNTIL the box is completely screwed back in.

Xclamp trick. Google taht too, it costs money for the kit, but it works like everytime and there are TONS of tutorials online for it.

Xbox live connection keeps crashing.

Hi,

problems usually happen, when the signal strength drops.
I,d suggest hard-wiring the 360 to the PC or router, for optimal performance.

Thankyou for using fixya.
