The same thing happened to my air conditioner in Montreal! I can't find a place to buy the part, either. Is it possible to go back to the manufacturer? These things have warranties, right?

Rheem owns that brand. It would probably be best to discuss your options with them my friend.

Good luck and sorry that happened to you. Have a great day.

The ac unit will not turn on. The "comp" red light is on & it beeps

Did you get a manual with this unit? I believe the red light is a ground circuit fault interrupter GFCI. This detects minute amounts of leakage current and opens to protect the user from a shock. Is there a drain located on the unit for the moisture that is naturally condensed out of the air you are conditioning? If so, that needs to be drained. Many of the GFCI's they place on these units are cheap as they are made in China. I believe your unit takes some or all of the condensed moisture and runs it over the condensor coil to cool the coil, which is OK. My question is where does the excess moisture end up and how does this unit get rid of it? I believe they sell these at Wal Mart so I know it was made in China.

The refrigerator does not cool and a technician who came out said there was a hole in the line that is inside the wall of the refrigerator and we would have to replace the entire unit because it cannot be...

if the condenser coil runs through the refrigerator then it is possible a hole has developed but very unlikely you seen more restrictions instead of holes.... they do make a external condenser for units that can be attached to rear of unit...i didnt type your model number in but you have 2 coils a evaporator coil which is located inside the unit and is what cools the unit and then a condenser coil usually mounted under unit not internal or mounted to rear of unit visible to eye on back... now they do have a few units out there that were manufactured with the condenser coil internal if unit but a hole sounds odd.... how did the technician discover the hole did he pressure test system and hear inside unit or guessing strange sounding to me... like i said they do make external mount condensers but usually cost a fair bit to install... hope this helps you
p.s. was the technician a whirlpool o.e.m. authorized servicer from whirlpool just making sure you had a reputable person out and not some scammer ...wish you luck

How much should I expect to pay to replace a leaking coil model number is CD5AXW030017?

Well first off - 99% of coils (evap/condenser) can be 'repaired.'

In which case - you're probably looking at a repair bill of between $100 -$200 depending on factors such as type of unit, i.e. window unit or central unit, easiness of repairing the leak, whether or not your refrigerant can be saved i.e. by pumping the unit down before repairing it - and average AC - labor rates in your area.

If you do require a 'coil change-out' - then the same factors apply - although I'd rather buy a 'new' window unit than pay for a coil to be replaced - because the cost will be close to the cost of a new AC.

If a central unit - you're looking at around $500-$700 to replace one of the coils.

good luck!

I have a 7 yr old coil model number CK3XAA04202-1AAA I now need to replace the outside condenser which is 20 yrs old. How do I find out what ton is the condenser all markings are gone?

You could look at the compressor to get the model number off the compressor which can be traced back to how many BTU's this unit was capable of producing. Also you may have to change that coil that was replaced 7 years ago. R-22 is now a refrigerant of the past. Of course you can still buy the jugs of R-22 but manufacturers cannot make the units using R-22. You are now going to go with a R-410a unit which runs at significantly higher pressures. That indoor coil may not be rated to handle that kind of pressure. Do not let any contractor try to tell you different unless they can show proof that the coil has a R-410a rating from the manufacturer. It may cost more but it is nice to have a matched system.

Not condensing

Check to see if coils are getting cold, (run for 10 min. then unplug, and check inside unit). If they are, check and clean filter and coils. If not, most likely no economical to fix. Check consumer reports before buying a new one. New standards came in to play this year. Changed quality on the units.

Looking to buy 1997 Palm Harbor. Condenser and A Coil stolen. How do I find replacements Without numbers?

get the model number off the inside unit and match it to the outside. you will probably need to convert to R410A because if you are trying to change one unit the law is now you must change both pieces (to R410A from R22). You are probably not going to save much money (and surely you will get a low quality install) trying to go this route. Get a licensed contractor to install a new R410A system and you will also get a rebate from your power company.
