Hello. Make sure your wireless switch is turned on if there is one. if not, then you need to reinstall the drivers for the adapter. Look carefully for the switch on your laptop. sometimes we can hit the switch on accident and then the icon will go buy buy. good luck !

How do I connect wireless?

You will need a wireless router at your house. Perhaps you already have one of those. If you do, then you need to know what it's name (SSID) is and the password for it.

After you have this information, within Windows in the lower right corner by the system clock, there should be a wireless icon. If you cannot find it, hover over each icon until you find the wireless network icon. Look through the list of wireless access points (wireless router names) until you see yours listed. Click on yours and supply the password needed.

Wheres the wireless switch on an acer espire m1201 pc?

Hi

Desktop PCs do not generally have wireless switches. These are usually only to be found on laptops, netbooks and some nettops.

It is unusual for mid-specification desktop PCs like yours to have a built-in wireless function.

So the answer is that there is no wireless switch.

You can make a desktop PC wireless enabled by adding either an internal PCI wireless card or plugging in an external USB Wireless Adapter (far simpler). With these devices and their drivers and software installed, you will see a wireless icon bottom right of screen. Right click on this icon > View Available Networks/Connect to a Network to find your router's signal > once you connect to your wireless router by entering the SSID (router name) and Network Key (encrypted access code), the PC will be able access the internet wirelessly.

Once it is wireless enabled. whenever you turn the PC on, you just wait for the wireless icon to indicate you are connected to the internet (usually a blue globe).

There will never be a need for a wireless switch.

I hope this helps.

Cannot enable wireless on my Acer Aspire 5612WLMi

First, does the modem show up in the device manager (without an exclamation mark or an "x". In other words, does the computer see the card and is it not reporting any problems.
Second, do you see the wireless connection when you go into My Network Places and Network Connections?
Third, does the wireless connection icon appear in the system tray?

Hi there,
It sounds like you do not have the connection set up yet.
Try using the start button (bottom left hand corner of your screen)
Then click connect to, then click show all connections which will open the network connections panel.
Then you can configure the wireless setting (If you have one) if not, then try creating a new connection and follow the wizard, Hope this helps you, Chris

Unable to connect Acer Aspire 7250 to wireless broadband router (Netgear)

no the empower wireless connection programme is very good but can be turned off if you wish to use Windows Wireless Zero Configuration, which may be better to try and solve the problem, if you right click on the network icon on taskbar do you get the local and internet bubble or the triangle warning sign?

If no warning, click on the connect to a network command and see if the router appears there.

If not click set up aconnection or network at the bottom of the window, then click set up a wireless router or access pont and follow the wizard, or click manually set up if you are the braver type and will have a go

If you get a warning sign i suspect the pc is trying to connect to the wrong type of encryption eg WEP when you have set WPA-PSK or visa versa or a wrongly typed passkey

Try resetting your IP address:
The laptop may be trying to use the IP address from the old router.

1) Click Start (assuming Windows 2000, XP, or Vista)
2) Click Run
3) Type in CMD
This will take you to a black command box
4) Type in: ipconfig/release
The chart should show your IP address as 0.0.0.0
Once this has happened, proceed to step 5
5) Type in: ipconfig/renew
You should now see a new IP address listed.

Also note that you need to set up your network key (assuming that you are using one) on both the router and laptop.
Make sure that your router is set up to perform as DHCP server.
