Question about John Deere Garden

MY snowblower on John Deere 2305 won't engage after pulling the pto switch

Snow blower attachment was working fine, but recently I pulled the electric pto switch out to engage the snowblower and it won't engage and the drive shaft does not turn but I can turn it by hand. Is this just a bad pto switch?

SOURCE: john deere 2010 tractor. pto grinds and wont engage

The PTO usually has a clutch that has to be engaged so that you can select the PTO rotation setting. I had a problem like that on my tractor and all it needed was a little adjustment on the PTO clutch lever, so it could disengage the PTO gearbox properly.

SOURCE: why does the wires keep pulling out of the electri...

The anchor that keeps the Electric clutch armature from rotating has had the end tab worn off allowing the whole clutch mechanism to spin, the anchor arm bolts to the tractor frame and is supposed to keep the clutch armature/brake stationary. replace the clutch as many times as you want but the arm will need to be intact and engaging in the clutch body for any proper operation to occur.

SOURCE: problem with John Deere L120 tractor

Park brake switch is the most likely culprit, any other would cause the tractor to not turn over in the crank position.

I have a John Deere 355d lawn tractor. Every time I engage blade or release brakes the mower dies out. Checked safety seat switch and its not that.

Try pulling up on your PTO switch to engage the RIO switch. If it works then there is a problem with the reverse switch is located near the directional pedals/linkage or on the transmission. Attached is a picture of the switch from the John Deere parts catalog and a wiring diagram.

X595 john deere pto wont kick in

These John Deere Garden Tractors have a RIO (Reverse Implement Option) on the PTO. If your PTO is engaged and you back up, the PTO will automatically stop. To reset it, depress your PTO engagement switch to the OFF position. Take your foot off the reverse pedal. Pull up on the PTO engagement switch. The PTO should restart. To use the RIO feature, pull up on the PTO switch for a second or two just before you step on the reverse hydrostatic pedal. The yellow RIO indicator light should come on your dashboard and you can now back up with the PTO still running. Works great for snow blowing when I don't want to keep resetting my electric PTO clutch to keep restarting my snow blower.

If your PTO will not restart, you may have a PTO switch starting to fail, or a likely logic problem in your electric PTO control module, or one of your forward/reverse indicator switches, which is linked to your PTO control module along with the overtemp circuit, is stuck/faulty.

Probably the pto switch. Find the 2 wire 'T' plug from the PTO clutch and disconnect. With a voltmeter across the the 2 spades on the tractor side of the plug you should get 12 volts DC with the PTO switch on ( you may need to sit in the seat ). If you get 12 volts at the plug its probably the PTO clutch. If no power then its a fuse or the PTO switch

Check the voltage on the wire(s) connector to the PTO switch. Sometime portion of the switch can go bad. If you have voltage coming in to the switch check the output voltage going to the clutch..

John Deere Snowblower - wheel won't spin

yes 2 solutions. the sheer pins have got broken down on that auger that wont spin, they go through the middle bar. easy fix. about 2 dollar.

The other thing is. The drive belt located directly in the middle of the machine has a plastic cover over it has slipped off or is broken.

THis is a little more tricky as you split the machine taking off the collection cage usually to fix. I charge 89 dollars in my shop to do these.

Its not hard if you pay attention to where you need to take off the parts.
