I've got one of those. We had problems with it chewing batteries up. You might try another mouse on that computer, and try that mouse on another computer.

SOURCE: Wireless mouse not picking up

Normal 0 Try disconnecting the Mouse Receiver from the USB port and reinstall the CD software program. When the program asks you to connect the Mouse Receiver to the USB port, do so and it should work.
Hope this helps. Bud

I had all the same problems listed in fixit and found that all it took was placing all NEW batteries in the mouse.
Press the blue light button on the USB and the little black reset button on the bottom of the mouse at the same time. Worked good from there on.

Can i use wireless mouse from a keyboard and mouse set with another type of keyboard? wireless mouse #98614

The new keyboard should have come with a new sensor (usually attached to a USB plug). This should be factory-set to your new keyboard - it's not likely to work with the old sensor. So get rid of the old one - throw it in a drawer and forget about it!

Can I use another USB receiver from the same model (988614) with my keyboard and mouse?

You can try removing the batteries from the keyboard and mouse. Leave them out for ten minutes or so, and then replace them and try again. If they are the exact same components, it should work. The manufactures use what's know as "firmware" in the products. It's basically the same as software, but it's downloaded into the ICs,(electronics parts) with your keyboard and mouse. They new combination may not work because of differing firmware, but it's certainly worth a try.

Good luck!

98614 battery restraint

After you remove main cover face mouse right side up, wheel towards you. On end away from you there are two little nubs that stick up. Between them is a little indent where you just use a fingernail to pull up on battery holder-do not force as it should pop up very easily.

Ge wirelesss mouse 98614 wont connect

This is a multi-step solution, and may be hard to do for the non-technologically advanced user:

Step 1) Unplug USB from the computer and place near mouse
Step 2) Find a hammer or any blunt instrument similar to a hammer (a big rock will work well, too)
Step 3) Smash the USB, and then the mouse *THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO DO IT IN THIS ORDER*
Step 4) As of now, your mouse is already in better condition then it was when you started. Throw the remains away. *MAKE SURE TO GET EVERY PIECE OF THE TROJAN DEVICE*
Step 5) This step may be the hardest to do, as there is such a wide variety: Buy a new mouse.

I have a wireless mouse model 98614 and can't remember how to open the inside to change batteries. I got the cover off but then am stumped and feeling stupid.

There's a black rectangular button on the top of the mouse near where your wrist would rest... it's between the matte black top of the mouse and the shiny base. Push that in, and the matte black part flips up -- it's sort-of hinged at the button end of the cover.

To open the part that spreads over both batteries, there's a tiny catch about 1/4 inch from where the wireless USB adapter can fit, on the wrist-end of the mouse, dead center. It's got a small D shaped indent in it. Just push that towards the scroll wheel and lift up the battery holder center section.

I had the same problem when I got the mouse. I actually had to read the instructions for once! :)

I have installed the software and still can't use the wireless keyboard and mouse (GE wk1204)

Most mice should work without any software, there is a button on the underside of the mouse that needs to be pressed in the right order with pressing the receiver button connected to the computers USB port. Typically Press the base connect button first, then the mouse connect button, then the keyboard button. If it doesnt work reverse the mouse keyboard order. Make sure your using new batteries This is most often the case -dead batteries. (installed in the correct fashion) cheers.

I have a GE wireless optical mouse that has decided no to work

I had the same problem till I discovered there are two buttons (not just one) you have to push to re-link the mouse and the USB receiver. Plug the little receiver in, push the tiny "connect" circle on the receiver (which is actually a button I guess), then wait for the red light to start blinking. Then press the little link button on the bottom of the mouse.
