I am unable to download driver/software from the canon webside. It keeps giving me an error. I don't know what I am doing wrong. Please help!!!

Scroll down to the pull down menu that says "Select OS".  Pick the right one and download the driver to the Desktop or a location you can remember.   Extract the files to a location you can remember and run the Setup to install the drivers.  Stop being a noob.

An error message when i try to scan

On the CanoScan Toolbox program bar, select settings. Then hit the Browse button next to "Select Folder where Temporary Files are Saved" and go up one level to Canon from TB50. Then hit OK. This fixed the problem for me after Microsoft Updateinstalled updated Canon drivers. It looks like the geniuses at Canon are either having you write to a write-protect folder or one that only has system permissions and then giving you a disk-full error.

Error message

Hi toolpusher

Try going to CanoScan Toolbox > Settings and reset the 'defaults' button at bottom... this will restore factory settings and hopefully fix your problem... The other error message you can expect to get is "unable to scan - insufficent memory, check your **** space' (or something similar)... same fix works for both! ...Have had both messages on mine, sounds like a semi-regular conflict on some sort, but seems to be easily fixed. Good luck :-)

How do I open up a CanoScan LIDE50 so I can reattach a loose cable?

Hi,

Most (but not all) desktop scanners' casing are locked in place by bottom screws. Often these screws (2~4) would be underneath the rubber feet/pad of the scanner or a sticker. In some models, there are narrow slots underneath. These slots are the locking points of the top cover and would require the use of a flat screwdriver to pry open. Still others are simple snap locks at the front/rear portion of the junctions of the top and bottom cover/panel. Other than the screw type, most opening would require a bit of force to un-snap the locks. It helps to slightly pry the joints open with a flat tool such as a metal ruler and force only on the areas determined to have the snaps.

Should you be successful in prying the halves apart, the glass is held in place sometimes by an angular plastic strip locked in place by 2 small screws.

The driver is available here. Pls be reminded that drivers are OS specific.

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up of should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Error message 2-178-0. What does this mean.Changed drivers but no change in message?

Try this:

Open the CanoScan Toolbox.
Click the Save option.
Put a check in the box that states "Display the Scanner Driver".
Click Scan.
Click the Advanced Mode tab.
Make sure Select Source is set to "Platen".
Click the Preview button at the top left.
If the error still occurs, then most likely it will be a service issue.

One thing to check...see if the inside lamp illuminates when you turn the scanner on using the power button at the back left side of the scanner.

Scanning negatives on CanoScan 600F, I get an error message "Cannot write or read. 252.0.0"

The Canon support site is the place to go for that if your Manual does not tell you.
However remove the software and reload it - it may be as simple as that.
