Check if the numlock is on, on some systems it acts as the blue f[ fn ] key (Function) and it changes some of the letters as a numeric pad. The best way to test this is to type the password in the name field and see if its correct. Another thing you can try is entering Administrator as the name with no password.

Eee pc hard drive lock

Asus Eee PCs run on the Windows XP SP2 operating system. Accounts in Windows XP SP2 can easily be password-protected, but the same password can just as easily be forgotten.

At moments like this, you'll wish you had chosen a password that is both secure and easy to remember, or kept a record of it in a private place.

The quickest way to get back on the computer is to seek out someone with an administrator account on the computer.

Press "Control" + "Alt" + "Delete" at the same time on the locked screen.

Select "Switch User."

Remember, only an administrator account registered on this computer can unlock the computer.

Type in "administrator" in the user name box.

Type the password that corresponds to the administrator user name in the password box .

Click "OK." The Asus Eee PC is unlocked.

Hope this helps

I AM trying to remove a hard drive password from the samsun r370 can youhelp

If the Admin password does not allow you access to the drive then you MUST have the hdd password...........Even if you put the drive in another pc you won't have access to it (a hdd password is encoded on the disk). You can't even format it and use it again. The HD password is set together with the BIOS password, completely locking in all the hardware. To the best of my knowledge, even your hard disk manufacturer isn't able to unlock a password

This is only possible is you are using Windows XP. If your operating system is windows Xp, follow the steps below:

  1. Turn on your laptop and allow it get to the stage where is will ask for user/log password
  2. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del your keyboard.
  3. A user name and password prompt will pop up.
  4. On the user name type in "administrator
  5. On the password, type in "administrator"
  6. and you windows will open, go to control panel from there to change the password.
That's all. In other words, the user name and password is administrator.

But in the case of windows Vista, you will have to re-run windows operating system, because vista security is very tight and it is difficult to break into its password.

Alarm beeps on startup and will only let me put in 1st digit of password beforekeyboard wont work anymore

Beeping on startup is an indication of a RAM memory problem. If you have more than 1 stick of RAM installed, try removing 1 and rebooting. If it boots up, you may have a motherboard issue that won't allow your machine to utilize all of your RAM memory.

The user name or password is incorrect. Verify that CAPS LOCK is not on, and then retype the current user name and password. Or you must be trying a wrong password.

BOOTMGR is missing, CD drive not working

Turn off the computer and wait at least 5 seconds with the computer in a full off state.
Turn on the computer and press the F8 key repeatedly as the computer starts. An "Advanced Boot Options" screen opens.
Select Repair Your Computer and press Enter.
Select a keyboard layout that matches your country/region and click Next.
When the login prompt appears, select the user name with Administrator rights (not Administrator) from the User Name drop down. The user name with Admistrator rights is most likely the first user name that was entered during the initial computer setup.
Type the logon password into the Password field and then click OK.
A System Recovery Options window opens.
Type Bootrec /RebuildBcd, and then press ENTER.
• If the Bootrec.exe tool runs successfully, it presents you with an installation path of a Windows directory. To add the entry to the BCD store, type Yes. A confirmation message appears that indicates the entry was added successfully.
• If the Bootrec.exe tool cannot locate any missing Windows installations, you must remove the BCD store, and then you must re-create it. To do this, type the following commands in the order in which they are presented. Press ENTER after each command.
Bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup
ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old
Bootrec /rebuildbcd
Restart the computer.
