It is entirely possible you were given the wrong instructions for your printer (or someone wrote the instructions without seeing the actual machine). Why not contact Lexmark and ask for a logical explanation?
The Lexmark site and their authorized parts distributors seem to be out of stock. You could check with your local computer supply store; however i was able to find a website which offers your power supply and power cord. Do you just need the cord or both the cord and the power supply?
I don't see that the Lexmark X3430 functions as a fax machine. It is a combination Printer, Scanner and Copier. If you would like to send faxes, you would need to scan the document using this device and then fax it by way of a separate fax modem installed on your computer, which would need to be plugged into your phone line.
