SOURCE: Latitude D600 beeps twice

Sounds like you have a video card problem.

To run the Dell diagnostics perform the following steps:

  1. Shutdown the computer.

  2. Press and hold the <Fn> key (next to the <Ctrl> key), then press and release the power button.
    Release the <Fn> key when:
    • The keyboard lock symbol lights begin to flash AND/OR
    • In the upper left corner of the screen shows Diagnostic boot selected

  3. The diagnostics testing automatically begins.
It may take a few minutes before any alert tones are heard.

  4. Watch the screen for images such as the Dell logo, progress bars,or lines of text and/or listen for beep tones that sound similar toMorse code.

  5. If the screen does show an image, write down the codes that appearon the screen. If the screen does not show an image, write down thebeep tones that you are hearing.
    • Before going further, please click the link to listen to an example of a beep code. Sample Beep Code
    • The beep codes will begin with a quick series of high pitched beep tones, then a pause, then 3 sets of beep codes.
Write down the 3 sets of beep codes that you hear.

    • If an error code is recieved, scroll back to the top to "Choose an option"and choose "A beep code is heard or an error code is seen. The beep code is not 3-3-3 or 3-3-4."
    • If there is no error code, continue with step 7.

  6. After approximately 2 minutes the system produces a single alert tone and should display colored bars with the prompt Were color bars displayed? (y/n).
The alert tone is repeated 6 times, once every five seconds for 30 seconds, then the second test automatically begins.
Press the <N> key on the keyboard to skip the timeout and immediately start the second test.

SOURCE: Beep noise during booting and no keyboard response

Sounds like the key is stuck. You will have to remove the keypad to check the switch underneath.

SOURCE: windowos doesnt boot, continuous beeping

Try this....

Windows Start-up Errors
Step one, you need a Windows XP CD. If you only have a recovery disk set like the ones from HP or Compaq they will not do what you need done. Under normal circumstances however, you can use a Dell disk because the Operating system is on a stand-alone disk. All retail versions are also acceptable as well as upgrade disks. For a rule of thumb, if the disk has the Microsoft hologram it should work. You can order a boot up floppy disk from here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310994 with this file, if you know how, you can use “ImageBurn” to burn the file into an ISO file which can be burned to a disk. Now make sure your computer boots to the cd rom first. If you know how to do this skip on down, if you don’t, while the computer is first starting up and you see the manufacturers splash screen, tap F12 (some computers it’s F9, others it may be another key, you may have to watch and see if the computer lists the key strokes for getting to the boot menu. If you still cannot find it, boot into the BIOS settings and change your boot order there. Save your settings and exit, the computer will now seek the cd rom as its boot source first.
Place your Windows disk in the computer and start it up. When you see the test at the top of the page “Press Any Key To Boot From CD” Just hit the space bar to activate. The next screen you will see will most likely be a Windows setup screen, when you see this press the “R” key to get to the recovery console. It will get there, it may take a little time, patience. Once it loads you will be given a choice of Windows installations, there should only be one, if there are more, always pick number one. It may ask for an administrators password, if you have not set this particular password, then just leave it blank and press enter. The next prompt you see is:
C:\Windows>
You need to type the following:
cd \
hit enter. Pay close attention to the spacing between the characters. There is a space between the character “d” and the “\”
You are now at the ROOT of the drive, this is where basic commands can be given and changed. You should now see the following:
C:\>
Now type the following:
CHKDSK /R
Hit the enter key.
The chkdsk /r command also includes the P command and will also look for lost recoverable information in bad sectors.
There are occasions depending on how corrupt the system is, that this process could take several hours, so be patient with it.
Now, after chkdsk has run type the following:
FIXBOOT
Hit the enter key.
It may prompt you with a warning, that’s ok, just continue. When fixboot has finished, type: EXIT hit enter and windows will reboot. When the system reboots, tap the F8 key during this time and you will see the multi-boot menu come up. Scroll to the title “Last Know Good Configuration” and hit the enter key. If you were having some simple drive errors this should have fixed them.

Compaq presario v6101uswont boot not even start up screen

When you plug in the power cord is there any lightswhatsoever on the laptop, where the plug goes in or on the AC Adapter of thepower cord?

When you press the power button do you hear fans running, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lights constantly blinking, hear theDvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer of the DvD/CD turn on for asecond or two? If so the laptop is trying to boot or may have booted, butthe screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with thelaptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issuewhen you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous.

Maybe you have a Static Charge Buildup. Remove the Power Cord, Remove theBattery, then Press and Hold the power button for 30seconds. After 30 seconds plug the power cord back in (leave the batteryout) and hit the power button to see if it boots. If it does, you can putthe battery back in and let it charge.

Beeping before booting

probably the RAM. Take it out and put it back in to check. You will need some RAM to boot, so try each stick separately if you can. I'm guessing though that you'll have to get at least one other stick of RAM to check. You'll probably find that one is bad. It's probably covered for life, but that would be a good reason to upgrade it.
