What causes the 4 amp slo burning fuse to blow on a hobart beta mig 200

You are exceeding 4 amps? I have to believe this is a fuse for the control wiring and not the weld current or primary circuit. Likely you have a blown circuit board in the control area.

Experienced a power surge, garage lights dimmed. Wire feeder and fan still operable

The circuit breaker may have popped. Wait a while to see if it resets itself. Look for burned fuses too.

I have a millermatic 252mig welder with a fault code of j09

The fault codes they acknowledge are formatted "HLP ***" so it may be an actual board fault.

However, frist thing to do is blow out cabinet with compressed air, check all fuses and circuit breakers to make sure they are all okay, make sure the connections are tight for incoming power and jumpers are tight(for 3 phase type).

Check out the gun and make sure the weld switch is working correctly. I assume you have the XR gun, make sure the connector is securely attached and the idler and feed wheel in the gun are not excessively worn. Also check the mundane sensitivity setting.

Then see if it will function. If it does not, open the cabinet and make note of which contactors are closing, if nothing- and all fuses are good, and fan is functioning, it is likely a board fault. Miller keeps this information tight to keep certain repairs in house for several reasons. One big one is people like myself who repair boards get a leg up if we have their error codes.

On a hunch- I would say the SCR's for the wire feed motor control are burned out.

My 220at keeps on burning back up into the tip? is

Hi James, There are a couple on things to check on, firstly there is usualy a clutch unit - a bolt- which is used to stop the reel spining on after release of the triger, if this is too tight, then the wire will burn back.
Secondly, check the front pannel for burn back control this alters the stick out of the wire.
thirdly, dont have the nozzle too close, 1/2 to 3/4" from the work would be good. lets know how you get on.

To fix a electrical fuse for a 1975 roll

Easier to replace with a resetable breaker. Safer too. They are readily available from local electronics store. If you are trying to keep it original looking disconnect the wiring and install a self resetting type, more expensive than normal breaker, and hide the wiring to it.

I have a clark 85en welder with gas,I cannot get it to work right, keeps on spitting, then something happens to wire and i have to take it apart and bring wire through again, any answers?

Vltage is too high and the feed is too fast. You need to balance yhe two. What is happening is the wire is stabbing the work and that creates a dead short causing the wire to burn back into the nozzle and wadding up and sticking to the tip.

Flux wire on Dual Mig Welder not feeding.

Change the contact tip. This is the most common problem. The tip gets burned and keeps the wire from feeding. You should always have extra tips on hand.

Lincoln mig pac-100 low heat on highest setting.won't weld 20 ga.

if you are using flux core that might be why, flux core burns hotter, try using 75/25 or more argon than co2, as your gas, the gas will keep it a little cooler, keep your amps down and match the wire speed to the amps, which would be slower wire speed
