Have you tried cleaning the lens with alcohol? Or made sure the lens moves freely on it's tracks?
It could need an update. You can get it at www.jvc.com

My JVC DVD player sometime does not read a DVD disk that was played in it before in it or it has just played?? this is driving me nuts!!!! an ideas... pls...

It's an anticopy feature. JVC extensively uses sony electronics. And Sony is the anti copy king of retardedness. I've permanently stopped purchasing sony products for this reason. From dvd players, to video game consoles, and their records and movies (columbia). I've been doing this for 10 years and haven't really missed anything :/

Clean optical lens with good quality cotton bud and check is it playing disc?
Also check sled motor and spindle motor that can cause no file problem, put drops of WD40 contact cleaner in motor bush where shafts are coming out.

if you have a dvd drive on pc, can you watch them on there. if you do have a dvd drive, there is software available which will enable you to make back up copies of the discs so that they are region free

Region code

Hi,

To my knowledge, due to firmware design, most JVC region locked DVD players can not be unlocked with entry codes through the remote. While some JVC models could be unlock with a firmware update or a PC interface neither of which is available for a TH-P3.

Im sorry but thats just it for this model.

Alternately, a long method is to convert/copy the DVD disc itself from any region to whatever region your JVC is locked into. There are freewares just for this purpose. An example is DVD SHRINK 3.2.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

DVD (JVC XV-S502) Does not eject dvd. Word "lock" appears in screen

hey, this happened to me too. what you have to do is put it in standby mode, then press and hold the eject and stop button on the actual dvd player, the remote wont work doing this. this is how you can unlock and lock the dvds into the dvd player. why this is a feature jvc thought this needed im not exactly sure, but thats how you fix it.
