Question about Magellan Maestro 4040 GPS Receiver

1 Answer

Enter Address Icon no longer

I have no idea what happened but my Mastro 4040 no longer opens with an "Enter Address" Icon - I now do not have that function available. How do I get the function icon back (as well as the house icon at the bottom). Your help is really appreciated!!

Have a 4040 maestro magellan will not get off the magellan screen

if this just happened, and you have not tried to update it (sometimes the update causes this) then power the 4040 on and once it finished loading to the blue screen, using a paper clip, depress the reset switch on the left side and let it restart (little pinhole on the left side under the usb port)

if you need further help, just reply to this post.

My magellan mastro gps touch screen will not respond. less than 4 months old. magellan wants me to send the unit back to be replaced by a refurbed unit with a 3 month warranty. i would like to know how can...

turn it on, make sure the battery has a good charge on it, then locate the reset hole on the left side near the bottom and use a paper clip to depress the switch...youll know its reset if the unit goes off and reboots....if that fail, it needs a digitizer (the part that lets you navigate your magellan) its the upper layer over the touch screen.

i buy broken magellans off ebay if i need a digitizer or screen..normally for under 20.00

Magellan wont get signal?

charge the battery fully, then set it outside in clear view of the open sky. it may take as much as 30 minutes to acquire the sats if that fails, try and leave it out longer...does it appear to try and link to ANY sats. on the map screen in the top righ t corner is a icon with bars in it, tap that and you should see it trying to acquire sats. if not, you might have other problems

Invalid address

First, you have to make sure that you are in the right state. If you are looking for an address in Virginia, but the GPS is set to locate addresses in Tennessee, the address will be invalid. Try going into the settings to be sure that you are searching the correct area.

Problems with Magellan Maestro? 4040 GPS power connection

Hi,

I also have the same problem - the yellow power jack has broken connections. I fixed it by soldering it back. In my unit, the connection pads under the external power jack were intact and I was able to solder the jack easily. The audio out jack nearby has also come-off the PC board, along with the pads. I am not able to re-solder these back. Since the audio jack is part of the speaker circuit I have lost the text-to-speech function!

Hope you are able to fix yours.

I have a Magellan Maestro 4040 That will no longer pingower on.

this is a very common problem with these magellan 3140 and also the 3100,2000,2200t,2500,4000,4040 and the 4050 most likely the power port is damaged and needs replaced.i have these power ports but often they just need re soldered..i can repair these magellan gps if you need help. if i cant fix it there is no charge.wmetz@comcast.net ... to open the case on a 4040 you must start on the power button side, otherwise youll break the unit
