Question about Brother MFC-8840D All-In-One Laser Printer

My adf jams. It does not feed the paper through it is missing the exit slot and jamming on the scanner. Is my scanner light spposed to always be on when the clover is closed? Thanks Richard Earle

    Is there an easy to access the rollers to clean with water or do you just clean the outside rollers that can be seen?



    I'm wondering if something is out of alignment. It feeds in OK it just misses the last slot before it finally exits the adf after it was scanned.

    My original problem was I had a doc cover open light on and was able to make it go out by depressing the switch near the left hinge which is cracked. That is when I realized the adf would always jam.



    If I get the hinge fixed will that fix the ADF jam?



    Would a authorized technician be able to fix the hinge and ADF; or should I just buy a new printer?

Yes, the scanner light is normal always on, even if the cover is closed.
Try cleaning the rollers with some water.
Check if there is a piece of paper or staple or something else in the paper path.
If still jamming you need an engineer to service your ADF.
Please use the platen mode to make copies

    Yes that's right, if the hinge is replaced, the ADF is also fixed, as you mentioned that the original gets out.

    A service technician is able to repair your ADF and replace the broken part.

Fi-6130z fujitsu scanner jamming repeatedly

To troubleshoot your scanner issue, yuo are advised to perform the steps provided below:
1.Remove all documents from the ADF paper chute.
2.Open the ADF while pressing down the ADF open lever. If your has the imprinter option attached, please open the imprinter and then open the ADF.
3.Remove the jammed papers from the ADF.
4.Close the ADF pushing the center part of the ADF carefully.
If document jams occur frequently, then please check the followings:
1. Do the documents satisfy paper specification?
2. Have the documents been jogged?
• Align the edge of documents for stable paper feeding.
• Remove documents with crease or dog-ear.
• Scanning different width of documents may cause skew and result in paper jam.
3. Are Chuter Unit (ADF paper chute),Guide P ASSY (Sheet guide), Feed roller cover (plate guide) and Brake roller cover installed correctly?
4. Clean the Feed rollers, Eject rollers,Plastic rollers, glass surface and paper feeding surface, and see if the error is resolved.
5. Check the consumable counter from the TWAIN driver screen. When the counter exceeds the values, replace Pick roller or Brake roller see if the error is resolved.
6. If the issue still persists, then you are recommended to contact the nearest Fujitsu service center for further assistance.

Hello Sharon,

When a document jam occurs, "J" and "1" will display alternately on the function number display panel of the scanner.Please perform the following:
  1. Remove all documents from the ADF paper chute.
  2. Open the ADF while pressing down the ADF open lever. If you are using fi-6130 with the imprinter option attached, please open the imprinter and then open the ADF.
  3. Remove the jammed papers from the ADF.
  4. Close the ADF pushing the center part of the ADF carefully.

Hello.


I am a Support Engineer with Xerox Scanners.

E8 is a Paper Jam error that could be caused by:
- paper crumpling during scan.
- paper is multi-feeding all at once instead of feeding separate.
- scanner continuously tries to feed after paper has fed through.


if the paper is crumpling during the scan, make sure the inside of the scanner is clear of any obstructions. use the paper guides in the ADF tray to keep the paper straight when feeding in.

if the paper is multifeeding while scanning, fan out the pages before inserting them into the scanner. if problem persists, try cleaning the rollers with rubbing alcohol and a lint free cloth.

if scanner tries to continually feed after the paper feeds through, the ADF tray will need to be reseated. open the scanner and remove the ADF tray at the top. line up the 4 keys at the bottom of the tray with the 4 corresponding key slots inside the scanner. push the tray back until it clicks into place.

Fax on Lexmark 901 pro not feeding


Does it also jam when you're just copying or scanning? Try to check if the scanner is closed all the way down. The cover needs to be closed all the way down for the paper to flow properly from the ADF to the exit tray.

Description

Exit sensor is never made.
Possible causes:
• Improper loading of manual feed slot
• Paper wrapped in fuser
• Damaged paper exit sensor or paper exit sensor flag
• Damaged fuser autoconnect
• Faulty fuser DC cable connection
• Faulty fuser
• Faulty system card

Action

• Check for anything in the paper path that might cause the paper to jam.
• Load paper in the manual feed slot.
• The fuser exit sensor may not be functioning properly.

An error is displayed that clear scanner jam.


Check the Paper Sensor on the ADF. If it is stuck, a Document Jam Error will occur because the scanner will attempt to feed documents when there are none. The sensor I'm speaking of is a black plastic lever that sits in a slot to the right of the feed roller. It should stick up through the slot (3/4 inch) and spring back if depressed and released.

ADF paper jam, when there is none


If you are receiving an Error Code 103 or a Paper Jam error, but there are no pages in the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder), follow the steps below:
  1. Close the scanning application (such as PaperPort)
  2. Turn off the scanner and the computer
  3. If you have a combination ADF with a Flatbed scanner, unplug the ADF cable from the base of the scanner
  4. Plug the ADF cable back in
  5. Turn on the scanner power
  6. Turn on the computer
  7. Try scanning again
For a Paper Jam or Error Code 103, make sure that the ADF cable in the rear is connected to the scanner base. Check the flatbed to make sure that it is clear. A page incorrectly placed on the flatbed may interfere with a page feeding through the ADF.

If your scanner stops scanning due to a paper jam in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), a warning dialog box appears after a few moments.

To clear a paper jam:
  1. Open the Automatic Document Feeder cover.
  2. Remove the jammed paper and close the cover.
If you are receiving a paper jam error, or if the scanner is running continuously, check to make sure the paper sensor arm is not stuck down.
  1. Open the Automatic Document Feeder cover.
  2. Look for the small black plastic arm
  3. When you press on this arm, it should move freely up and down
  4. If the arm is stuck down, please contact Technical Support for troubleshooting options
  5. Close the ADF cover.
