SOURCE: Pondmaster 250: Impeller or motor broke?

pondmaster 250 comes with a 3 year manufacturer warranty you should just exchange it for a new one. Overheating from low water sounds like the issue but as long as the shaft and housing are not scarred from debris they will replace without any questions

SOURCE: shaft seal leaks on sta rite pump?

You need to get to the shaft at the back of the motor to hold it while you use water pump pliers or the like to turn it off. It will unscrew in the regular direction but if it has a set screw to hold it in (You will find this at the center of the impeller) this will be a left hand screw so you will go clockwise to loosen it. This should get the impeller off. If not you will need to put a screwdriver in the side of the impeller and give it a hit to lossen the impeller. Good luck.

9.5 pump not working after running dry several hours by accident. Will replacing impeller make it work again?

Probably. As long as the motor is obviously turning and operating correctly. A dry impeller will burn up and lose it's seal along the interior of the pump housing.

The bearing needs to be pressed onto the ceramic shaft before inserting the impeller into the housing. Then it just drops in (while trying to hold on to it the best you can to keep it from slamming in.). New bearings didn't come with the new impeller? If not you will have to carefully pry out the old bearing from inside the housing.

I have a pondmaster ap40, pump stopes pumping, if you unplug it for an hour and plug it back in it will work for a day or so. Can it be fixed?

Hi,
Either the motor is going bad or you have an obstruction that is making it work too hard...Check all filters and the impeller to make sure everything is okay...

Pondmaster 1200gph pump stopped working. Inside

Sounds like the impeller broke.

Just remove the 4 phillips head screws to remove the housing, then pull the impeller out. When replacing the impeller be sure to have a good grip on it as the magnetic attraction will pull it in pretty hard.

The pump may still be under warranty, if so call the number on this web page: You can also order parts from them.

My pondmaster pump model 18 will not start back up

Usually when those pumps start doing that the impeller needs to be cleaned. Just remove the impeller housing with a phillips screwdriver and carefully pull out the impeller. I use an aquarium tubing brush to clean the impeller. A bottle brush will work too. Be very careful when you re- insert the impeller back into the housing, as the strong magnetic force will slam it back in if you aren't holding on to it with a good grip. Try to avoid that.
It's also possible that the impeller is going bad and needs replaced (probably about $40 for that pump). Sometimes the bushings wear out too.
Check inside the motor housing for scoring, not good. The only cure for scoring is to replace the pump.

The pump does not work after power cycling

This is from Danner:
SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE
The housing should occasionally be removed to clean and inspect the impeller assembly. The impeller is the only serviceable item and can be pulled out of the body. If it is worn or broken the entire impeller assembly should be replaced. This will restore the pump to original capacity. Pumps taken out of service for an extended period with fluid inside run the risk of forming a crust which may prevent subsequent starting. Saltwater should be flushed out with fresh water.

IMPORTANT: FOR PUMPS USED IN SALTWATER OR HARDWATER.
Magnet impeller assembly must be removed approximately every 3 months for cleaning in white vinegar to remove accumulations of scale or calcium. Disassemble magnet from impeller by pulling them apart (it may take a strong pull). One end cap will come off. To clean the calcium scale off of the shaft and bearing inside the magnet soak in white vinegar for a few hours and scrape it off. Reassemble magnet/impeller assembly. Do not loose (sic) any washers located between end cap and impeller.

Hope this helps!
