Question about Computers & Internet
I just recently upgraded my internet service to 30MB, my ISP gave me the d-link 6740u for my house. Wi-Fi is working like a charm (30MB and everything) but all the computers that are connected to the router via an ethernet cable aren't working, I get a connected to the internet notice, I can ping google, but when I try o connect to a website via browser it dosen't load and keeps on saying "connecting to www.google.com". Again when I use wi-fi, everything works fine...
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

the first thing you have to check is if your computer is getting a valid IP address from your router. if your using a windows xp laptop just go to your network connections under control panel then right click the connection you want to check and got to status, click the support tab and it will show you the IP address, subnet mask and default gateway(for windows vista just go to details and look for the IPV4 info)
if your laptop has built in wireless you can just turn it off(theres a switch of a button to turn if on/off) so that your laptop will only be using the ethernet connection. there is not option to automatically switch from one connection to another.

Do a search engine hunt for a "WIRELESS PRINT SERVER" and you'll bring up a Netgear WGPS606 for about $60-80 or a Linksys for $36-150 (the same one :-)).
The Netgear has 2 USB A ports and 4 ethernet ports. You plug in your printer, activate the wireless part to receive a signal and you have a networked USB printer.
I assume the Linksys works exactly the same way, except it may not have the additonal 4-port ethernet switch.
