When I turn on my c182 it says set time and date. when I do that next time I turn it on it says the same thing.

Usually when doing this you have to press 'Done' or something, not just go back to the menu. If you don't the date doesn't stick.

My date is not getting set in bios

Change the CMOS battery.

If you had taken the time to post the computer manufacturer name, and model number; I would know what motherboard we're dealing with, and what type of CMOS battery it uses.

Generally the battery is a CR2032.
A type of watch battery.
Positive ( + ) side ALWAYS goes UP

Orange light stays on will not boot

Switch ON the PC, boot the PC in 'Safe Mode' by continuously tapping F8 button after you switch On until you get the Safe Mode Option.

Let windows boot in Safe Mode and log in to windows.

Go to 'Start'--->Programs--->Accessories--->System Tools--->Click 'System Restore'

A 'System Restore' window will appear.

Here you will have to check "Restore computer to an earlier time' and click Next

Now you will find one Month Calendar window with Dates below, go to the previous month by clicking the '<' sign in the upper left hand corner of the Month Calendar and select any date that you see in Bold.

Note: It is better if you could remember from which date you are facing the issue, try to select a date prior to that date.

The detail of that particular date should show "System Checkpoint" and time on the right hand side box. Select that date.

Now, Click on Next and System Restore will start and windows will take a reboot.

After reboot your problem should be resolved.

A friend bought a Canon A480 on my recommendation but she can't get the date/time to stay. She has to reset it every time she uses the camera. The user guide says to replace the date/time battery but this...

If it's a new camera, and it is doing this, it is defective. Your friend might consider returning it for replacement. But before she does, one quick thing that she can check is to reseat the little clock battery that controls the date/time. The battery could well have gone bad. It's located in a little slot labeled CR1220 right next to the AA batteries in the battery compartment. Just use a fingernail to pry open this little compartment and remove and reinsert the little button battery. If that doesn't fix it, and if returning the camera is not an option, next consider purchasing a replacement CR1220 battery from your local drug store. It should only cost about $3.

I have an old IBM THINKPAD R31 every time i turn it on it says to press F1 for ibm bios setup utility and F12 for ibm boot devices list so i pres one of the 2 and it does nothing it just stays the same...

This is caused by the small battery inside that keeps the time and date for the computer. If it is dead, you get the message you refer to. Sometimes they are easy to change, sometimes it is quite a hassle. If you go to setup, you can change the time and date for that session, but the next time it will be off again.

The date and time will not stay after setting, is there a flash update?

This is a firmware glitch. If you disable the startup image, the date and time is not saved. To fix this issue, you must re-enable the startup image.

Turn on the camera and press Menu (M). Press the right side of the circular directional button to select the wrench. Press OK/Edit.

Next, navigate down to "Opening" and press OK/Edit. Select ON and press OK/Edit. Go back up to Date/Time and set the date.

Restart the camera to see if it works.

Press POWER/MODE button to toggle from Y09 (2009) to Y30 (2030).
Press SHUTTER to advance to next date setting.
Press POWER/MODE button to toggle from 01 (January) to 12 (December).
Press SHUTTER to advance to next date setting.
Press POWER/MODE button to toggle from d01 (1st day of month) to d31
(31st day of month). Press SHUTTER to advance to next date setting.
Press POWER/MODE button to toggle from H00 (12 a.m. military time) to H23
(11 p.m. military time). Press SHUTTER to advance to next date setting.
Press POWER/MODE button to toggle from 00 (zero minutes) to 59 (59
minutes). Press SHUTTER to advance to next date setting.
1. Once you select the "minutes" setting and press the SHUTTER button, you will return to the SEt entrance

Ativa at-p3000 adding machine....no user manual or way to set ate and time

To set the time: Press the date/time button (next to the feed button) to make the time appear on the display. Then press and hold the "Time Set" button (the "=" button) until the first digit of the time setting begins to flash. Then just enter the current time with the keypad (3:30 is 0-3-3-0) and use the "AM-PM" key (the "x" button) to toggle am/pm. After you have the time entered, press and release the "Time Set" (=) again to set the new time.

To set the correct date: Press the date/time button (next to the feed button) to make the date appear on the display rather than the time. Then press and hold the "Time Set" button (the "=" button) until the first digit of the date begins to flash. Do the same as before to set the new date. Don't forget to press the Time Set button after you set the date or it will not record the change.

If for some reason you need to reset your calculator, turn it over and stick a pencil into the reset hole next to the battery compartment. That will reset everything.
