after I get into properties what should I do and what about the tool bar

  • fpwyanks3 Jan 22, 2009

does not address the shrunken toll and task bars

  • fpwyanks3 Jan 22, 2009

I haven't heard a respnse from anyone that addresses the shrunken toll and task bars along with the text. I appreciate everyones efforts. It's maddening. I have asked friends who say they know computers to no avail. I'm thinking about just wiping out windows and starting over.

with the rating you gave me i'm not surprised no one is helping you.... we are basically volunteers that offer our help... our ratings are our reward.... the rating you have given me wasn't good and i would suspect no other expert wishes to chance getting one from you... have a nice day

Lenovo b640 model the tool bar is showing on the top but as is drag it on the bottom it is hide or not showing but it is showing on the right and left of the windows 7

Hi
Try right clicking on a part of the task bar and checking that the "Lock Task Bar" is not ticked in the menu that appears, untick it if it is. It shouldn't be as you can drag it to the left or right of the screen. Then click "Properties" and check that the "auto-hide task bar" is not ticked. Again it shouldn't be but untick if it is.
In these circumstances you should be able to drag the task bar to all four sides of the screen and it should remain visible at all times. If it is still not showing at the bottom of your screen, I would suspect that your graphics card is setup to show a larger screen than the actual screen can display, and you need to right click somewhere on the desk top and look at "Screen Resolution" (win7) to see what the settings are and what you can change them to to try and bring the task bar back into view when it is on the bottom.
Do any of your programmes lose their lower parts when viewed full screen?
On today's wide screen profile machines, I often find it better to have the task bar on the side. It takes a little getting used to at first, but after a while I found it more natural than at the bottom.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

Tool bar moved t right and is large

Right click on the task bar (I assume you mean the bar that is typically at the bottom of your desktop?)
Make sure "Lock the Task bar" is not checked
Click on the border of the task bar
drag directly from where you clicked to the bottom
Adjust height accordingly

You will need to go into personalize your settings rather than try and undo the shortcuts. Tool and task bars can usually be moved by clicking and scrolling to where you want it. As fo rthe screen that will be a resolution problem I am guessing. Give it a go.

Startup fails to complete properly

When on the screen, and you have no icons hold control(ctrl) down and shift key and press escape(esc) your windows task manager should appear, goto the applications tab, at the bottom goto the tab New Task and left click, another window should appear with a text bar, type in the text bar explorer.exe and click ok, all the icons and your normal screen should reapear.

If your screen goes back to normal goto the start bar and goto run or search and type "regedit".
When the regedit window appears left click the " + " sign next to Hkey_local_mechine the the plus sign on software, scroll down to Microsoft folder and click the plus sign, scroll down to Windows nt folder and click the plus sign, the plus sign on Current version folder, then scroll down to winlogon folder and left click on the folder icon, on the right hand side of the screen look for "shell" double click on the icon and delete everything in the text bar and type explorer.exe and click ok and exit out of the window, restart the pc and everything should be back to normal.

pls post back and tell me what happens.cheers.

My start button is hide i can not open the tool and taskbar in control panel

Padmajam,
Someone has played a prank on you. If you take the mouse pointer to the bottom edge the task bar will come on. When it comes on right click on it in the blue space and select the properties. Unclick the box for "Auto hide the Task Bar". And your task bar will be visible to you till someone hides it again.

Did you try Control Panel and Display, Setting tab and adjusting the resolution by moving the slider? That should take care of it.

Tool bar missing on computer

Assuming "tool bar" = Task bar
and your OS = XP
It's possible your task bar is hidden on bottom
just drag the bottom line of your screen upward
Check if your task bar properties are set to "hide the task bar" remove the setting
