Hi, I think I found one for you 5V AC DC power adapter for SIMPLETECH 96200 41001 075 250GB USB hard... . If it is correct, it is OK to just find ANY power cord with Output Voltage: 5 Volts DC and Amperage: 1 Amps. It just need to fit in.

Lost power cord

I believe that you would be ok. Voltage has to be "Spot on." Amperage, however, needs to "meet or exceed." Think of Voltage as pushing something into something. Think of Amperage as pulling something out of something. It won't draw more amps than it needs, even if they are available. Allow me to thank you for including the powerpayless website as until your post I didn't know what voltage I was looking for. Exactly the same thing happened to me with my SimpleTech 1TB. Perhaps we both solved eachother's problems. PS: I'm going to check with Radio Shack for a 12v adaptor with at least 3.5 Amp capacity. They might can beat the $30.00 which is what the above mentioned place gets including shipping.

Is it okay to use a 14-17 volt power cord for a Simpletech External Hard Drive?

The SimpleDrive requires a 12V/2A tip positive power supply. A 14-17V supply might work, but you run the risk of damaging your drive.
