i have the same problem. Couple days ago i changed the battery from another sansa clip ant it worked fine, pc recognized sansa again :/ i think that the battery is dead , detailier the microchip wich is on the battery..
hey buddy just do one thing.. open the metal cover removing the 4 philips screws.. and then remove the battery then reinsert the battery and try.. it should work ... i had the same thing few days back.. it was charged and in my pocket when i tried to listen to it the damm thing wont switch on .. so i removed the batter and put a LED to the terminal to check power and inserted it back it and valaaa it hot and running again..
something that runns hot that small is super small surface mount compontents and 9 times out of 10 is a throw-away item...unless u somehow put the battery in wrong....i dought it.
sell it ebay i say...some fool will spent 40hrs
trying to fix it and brag how he got a bargain.
