Unfortunately it is normal with metal water bottles. I suggest using a different bottle where a sponge can actually reach to clean the interior. If you insist on using the same bottle, clean it out as best you can using vinegar.

I cleaned my water cooler with vinegar but the water still taste bad. What can i do ?

it it is a plumbed in unit running off utility water supply, there is a small ceramic water filter assembly that can be fitted into the water inlet side of the unit
because it is extremely fine it removes the contaminates that make the taste if that doesn't work you can fit in tandem a charcoal filter after that ceramic to guarantee perfectly clean tasteless water
add to the fact that every 12 months ( depending on volume usage) the ceramic filter can be removed and the contaminates scraped off the surface using a knife which regenerates the filter
if it is bottle feed then clean out the holding tank using bleach, wash thoroughly and allow water to run from both taps for a few minutes to remove all residue bleach , the fit new water bottle
spare bottles are subject to algae growth ( taste ) if stored in a well lit area so store spare bottles in a dark room ( closet , under bench etc )

The best before date on bottled water

Water seems like a commodity that can't go bad, so what is up with the best before dates that companies are printing on their labels? Do they really mean anything?

After some research I have found that there is no rule from the FDA that water bottle companies are required to print a best before date. What these dates indicate is that the best quality of the water will be before this date. You will find that when you put water in a bottle after a few days or a while the water will start to taste a little different.

Some times if the water tastes different after the best before date this is an indicator of the chemicals from the plastic leaching into the water. This causes some health concerns, but the chemicals don't really need a lot of time to leach into the water. You will notice that nothing grows in a sealed water bottle but within 2 weeks of opening it you should drink it or toss it because it can start to grow bacteria or mold.

There is a funny smell inside the car and outside after I get out. It lingers in the air for several feet. It leaves a metallic taste in my mouth for several minutes. Do you know what it could be?

hi John...this could be a few things, but it sounds like either, you have a leaking water system and what you can smell and taste is the anti freeze, does is also taste a bit sweet as well?, the other thing could be the clutch ( if manual gears ) slipping, and burning, but you would notice the driving experience starting to go slower, so i would say the heater matrix inside the car ( the heater radiator ) may be leaking , feel the carpets around the bottom of the dashboard where your feet go, and the sides of where the centre console is under the dash this is normally a give away sign, and check your fluids in the expansion bottle to see if you have lost any water....hope this helps

New kettle leaves a metalic tast to water after boiling.

Try different water. If you use tap water normally, buy a jug of water at the store. The pH may be wrong (particularly if it is too low) and leeching metal from the kettle. Good luck.

Weird taste and smell in water from cooler

The best way to clean it is to run pipe cleaners through the tubes followed by a baking soda solution. If you have an empty cooler bottle put a gallon of hot water into it and three tablespoons of baking soda. Install it and run all of the water through the cooler and also through the hot side. This will make it clean and sweet smelling once again.

Coffee tastes like metal

THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE COFFEE. This has to do with water filter system and most importantly descaling of machine, as over time the metals in side machine and tubing get a mold type build up. Its a chemical reaction from the water and tubing and the coffee and metals. To 100% solve this, descale the machine with water and vinegar mixed. Do this a couple of times and use bottled water to fill water tank if you do not have a good water filter tap system. I have been the espresso business for over 16 years with 4 locations, and it has nothing to do with the coffee. If it was the coffee or poor coffee it would tasted burned or bitter, but NOT tasting like metal.

Please rate my solution as you see helpful, Thanks Mike Espresso Expert

Freezer burn on ice-cubes

Black mould around the freezer seal is normal if it has built up over a long period of time or has stood in damp environments. Normally hot soapy water can clear this right up. The ice taste would probably be resolved by fitting or changing the water filter, and / or cleaning the ice maker module located at the top of the freezer section and any route that the ice would take. Cleaning solutions for ice makers are available you just might need to call a local engineer for some advice on where to get some in your area. Hope this helps.
