No picture or sound. Is this a tuner problem? any help, please?

A no picture and no sound problem could not be a tuner problem. To test if it is a tuner problem, there must be a sound and picture using the rca input at the back of tv. I would suggest to resolder tuning section not the tuner itself. Thanks for using Fixya.

Tip

Mitsubishi TV service.

Channel tuning, snowy pix. IC 703 selects tuner band switching, check printed circut board from terminals 11, 14, 15, 16, and 17 to the tuner solder terminals. Possible intermittent open. I corrected this with jumper wires. TV tunes perfectly now.

Can't tune low channels on Mitsubishi CK-2688R, 1985

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Offhand, not yet but could be after test/diagnosis. Initially, you must first determine for the presence/absence of the variable 33VDC tuning voltage. This voltage varies depending on what channel is tuned into thereby setting the VCO (voltage controlled oscillator). In some instances, it could be a faulty/leaked capacitor in the 33V supply or even a zener diode. Faulty capacitors are easily identified by bulging top (normally flat), blistered/split casing, brownish paper within the immediate surrounding, rubber bottom partially out and/or powdery residue on one of the pins. The diode is tested like any semiconductor, forward and reverse bias.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

I cant get high def 1080-i to work on my mitsubishi 55807

IYou have to have your comcast box tuned to a channel that is broadcast in HD. On your Comcast remote hit menu. This will bring up several icons, one is HD. Select that icon and it will bring up the TV Guide for just HD channels. Select one and tune to that channel. Once your on that channel use your original remote and hit menu, then advance features, then go down to video display and change it from 480 to 980 or 1080. Let me know if this helps.
