I have just purchased an external hard drive for my mac as it is now full. its a toshiba store.e canvio. i have just transferred a movie from iTunes to the drive but it will not play and says file is

This may be a permissions problem. In finder, click on the file, then go to File:Get Info (or type <command>-i). In the file info window, look for "Sharing and permissions." Click on the triangle to expand. Look for a padlock icon, then click on it and type in your administrator password when it is requested. Now you can change permission from "No access" to "Read Only" or "Read and Write."

If this is not available, you've run afoul of iTunes copy protection, or iTunes is not set to look there for files. In the first case, you'll have to work from inside iTunes to get a viable copy onto the external drive, perhaps as a backup copy. In the second case, you would open Preferences in the iTunes menu, then click the Advanced tab to get to the iTunes media folder location dialog. (Make sure the external drive is connected before opening Preferences.) Click "Change..." and browse to the proper folder on the external hard drive. You will have to change back to the original location if the external drive is not connected, so first copy the original location path name and paste it on a Stickies note. After you set the external location, do the same with that path name. Then instead of having to navigate to file locations every time you change, you can just copy the path from the Stickies note and paste it into the location box.
The preceding paragraph was written for iTunes 10.6.3. Your version may differ somewhat.

Tip

How to fix -3221 error displays when accessing iTunes Store

change the permission level for iTunes and iTunesHelper to allow full access.

This should allow iTunes and iTunesHelper to both send and receive data from the iTunes Store.

Additional Information
More information on changing permissions can be found in the McAfee Personal Firewall Plus User's Guide.

First solving the devices compatibility conditions. Computer devices make the resource maneuverability achievable. For example, the computers feature that allows adapting to media transfers has impressions of what is attainable. Where for example, iTunes as a program that makes media management attainable only functions on devices with compartibity to capture an experience. Assume that the computer has an iTunes program with features of capturing media also to manipulate on another device. Assume also that, the means to capture multimedia impressions least malfunted either as internetworked connections from where significant resources are attainable. Once each components are within function order should provide the requisite experience requested. For example, once the new iPod were connected to computer that has compatibilities to media management should capture an impression either allowing importing or export between devices requesting media experiences. However in this situation, the internet provided resources required to attain functionality that influences the entire process. For example, requesting media from the internet web locations required several arrangements to capture resources. In situations where subscriptions to attain resources were required makes the process stringent. Keep in mind that the iPod device has several features among functions only influence by the internet at minimal observation. Once the media requested importation into iPod device from the internet encounters a malfunction either as out subscribed duration especially with iTunes media sharing, still allows an expansive resourcefulness to the iPod media device. For example, secure an internet structure of devise mentionable as computers that have the available comparyibilities to perform media requests over networks. Perform familiarization tours of the network structures to capture the experiences that also includes available methods to capture media that between devices. I am trying to downlaod something but i need to wright a proxy sever but i don't know what a proxy sever is or how to do it?

In computer networks, a proxy server is a server (a computer system or an application program) that acts as an intermediary for requests from clients seeking resources from other servers. A client connects to the proxy server, requesting some service, such as a file, connection, web page, or other resource, available from a different server. The proxy server evaluates the request according to its filtering rules. For example, it may filter traffic by IP address or protocol. If the request is validated by the filter, the proxy provides the resource by connecting to the relevant server and requesting the service on behalf of the client. A proxy server may optionally alter the client's request or the server's response, and sometimes it may serve the request without contacting the specified server. In this case, it 'caches' responses from the remote server, and returns subsequent requests for the same content directly.
A proxy server has a large variety of potential purposes, including:
1: To keep machines behind it anonymous (mainly for security.
2: To speed up access to resources (using caching). Web proxies are commonly used to cache web pages from a web server.
3: To apply access policy to network services or content, e.g. to block undesired sites
4: To log / audit usage, i.e. to provide company employee Internet usage reporting
5: To bypass security/ parental controls

I can no longer access any of my files on my wd1tb network drive

Hello,

It sounds like either the NAS enclosure or the drive(s) inside have failed.

If the enclosure has failed and you don't have any crucial files on it that you don't already have elsewhere, contact www.westerndigital.com for a warranty replacement.

If the enclosure has failed and you DO have important files on it, try having your local PC shop move the hard drive(s) into a new enclosure, if that works you're done, buy the new enclosure.

If the new enclosure fails, your drive is damaged and you will need a pro to help get back your files. If this is the case, reply back with you location(Country, State and City) and I will pass along recommendations for your neck of the woods.

Hope this helps FixYa,

Chris
