How do I type to the end

Hello,
To reset the margins you need to first release the margins. Once you have released the margins you will be able to set the left and right hand margins.
Thanks,

How do I do a left or right margin release??

Hello,

You need to release both the margins before being able to set them again or to get rid of them all together.

To release the margins, you need to press the "alt" button and the number 3.

This should release both the left and the right margins, so if you only wanted 1 reset, you will need to set the one you wanted to keep over again.

Thanks,

Pat

Changing margins

To change or reset margins, the keys involved are the ALT key to the left of the spacebar, the #keys 3,4, & 5.

The ALT & '3' keys are used to bypass the set margins.

To bypass the left margin, move the carrier to the left margin. Press the ALT & '3' keys at the same time. Release them then backspace the carrier to the point the new margin is wanted. Press the ALT and '4' keys at the same time to set the new left margin.

To bypass the right margin, move the carrier to the right margin. Press the ALT & '3' keys at the same time. Release them and spacebar to the point where the new right margin is wanted. Press the ALT & '5' keys to set the new right margin.
The main thing to remember is to move the carrier to the point where the new margin is needed. ALT + 3 bypasses old margins, ALT + 4 sets the left margin, & ALT + 5 sets the right margin.

How do I reset the margins for bigger paper?

Hi:

Most of these small portable typewriters have dual function keys. You need to find the keytop that has Margin Release on it. It might say Mar Rel. If this in in a color that is different then what ever else is on the key then this is a daul function key. What this means is that you also have to look for a code or mode key. Once you find that hold that key down while pressing the Mar Rel key once. Then release both keys and use the backspace key to back up through where your left margin is currently set. Once you have done that you can reset the left margin at that point by findind and pressing the Left Margin key. Note that the left margin key might also be a dual function key.
You can extend the right margin by spacing to it and then doing the same procedure above , but this time release the right margin and space throught it and then reset it where you want it.

Good Luck

Left and right margins of typewriter on Brother ML 500 Memory

Hi:

First find the margin release key and press it once. Then use the spacebar to move the carrier forward and reset the right margin. Or again use the margin release key by pressing it once and then press and hold the backspace key to move through where the left margin was and reset it at the point where you want it.

Resetting the margins on a manual typewriter.

I can't be for sure if these are auto set margins, but it sounds like they might be. If they are, first move the carriage as far to the right as you can. Hold the Left Margin Set (not Margin Release) lever as you move the carriage all the way to the left. Release the Margin Set Button or Lever. Now hold the Right Margin Set Button or Lever (not the Margin Release), and move the carriage all the way to the right while holding the Margin Set. Once the carriage is all the way to the right, release the Margin Set. Move the carriage to the place you want to set your left margin. Hit the Left Margin Set and then release. Move the carriage to where you want to set the right margin. Hit the Right Margin Set and release it. It gets confusing, but Margin Release does not set margins. Its sole purpose is only to bypass the margins. Hope this helps.
