Good morning. Thank you for taking the time to read my inquiry.
I have model # LER7646JQ0 Whirlpool electric dryer.
My thermal fuse has blown 3 times recently. I was told maybe I need to replace my upper and lower thermostat switches, which I did. Replaced the thermal fuse for the 4th time as well. Worked fine for several days. It's apparantly blown the thermal fuse again. Any advise would be appreciated.

Re: Whirlpool Dryer Help
Hi theres 2 things that can cause this #1 a dirty vent to the outside. #2 a dirty lint filer , Take the lint filter out & run hot water through it. If water wont flow through the screen, Its gummed up by Bounce sheet residue, Clean the filter . It should be ok

The thermal fuse is located on the outside of the blower housing. To get access to the thermal fuse you will need to remove the back panel of your Whirlpool dryer. How do you check it: Before you do any repairs on your dryer, you will need to disconnect the dryer from the wall outlet.
After removing the back panel, remove one wire from the Whirlpool dryer thermal fuse and take a reading between the two terminal on the thermal fuse.
The reading should be 0 ohms, if the reading is infinity, the thermal fuse is bad and it must be replace. When you find a bad thermal fuse, you will need to replace the operating thermostat too.
The operating thermostat opens at 155 degrees and the thermal fuse blows at 196.
These means that operating thermostat did not open at 155 and that is why the thermal fuse failed.
The motor has to be running for voltage to exit the motor going to the heater. With the back off the dryer and the motor running you should read 220 volts at the heater if all safetys and thermostats are good. There is a thermal cut out relay on the heat canister. It must read continuity also. Remember you must remove at least one wire from each component being tested to get a true open or closed reading. If a wire is left connected you get a false reading. The heating element could be broken and part of the heater wire touching the canister. This would cause a continuity reading and still no heat. Finally, yes,the centrifugal switch in the motor could be bad and not sending power to the heater on the red wire.
