What would make the fans not come on and cool the radiator?

Hello Anonymous,

Before replacing the fan motor try hot wiring it to see if the motor will run. Disconnect the two wire connector at the fan motor and run two jumper wires from the battery. If you get the polarity backwards the fan will still run, just backwards... but it will answer the question of whether or not the motor is bad. If the motor runs on the hot wire setup, it's good and the problem lies somewhere else like the radiator fan relay.

This relay is located near the driver's side front wheel well. Go under the car and find the wires leading to the radiator fan on the drivers side. Trace them back and you will see they go to a waffer shaped solid state relay bolted to the car near the wheel well. It measures about 1 1/2 inches across and is about 1/4 inch thick.

Severe corrosion or heat damage to the aluminum mounting bracket may be the culprit. .

Need wiring diagram for a single phase brook motor n a broomwade compressor

I suggest you contact Brooks if they are still in business. If not there is lots of motor info on the net.

Traditional single phase motors are fairly straightforward and similar to each other. The main thing to watch out for is to have the start and run windings wired with the same polarity. If the polarity is reversed on either winding the motor will run backwards.

Why is my1 1/2 hp sprinkler pump pumping OUT intake with no elec changes?

I am not sure, but DC motors will run backwards if the polarity of the incoming voltage is switched. I see this is an AC motor but they always run forward no matter the polarity, unless the polarity is reversed to the right wires inside the motor. The second link has a discussion on exactly how to do that. Thus it may have your answer, that those wires got switched somehow on your motor. Which means you need to buy a new motor.

The hood fans seem to be running backwards. how is that possible on an ac motor?

any ac motor can go in reverse. The direction is chosen by the direction of the start winding. reverse the polarity of the start winding where you see the 2 extra crimp connectors where you wired the motor just swap them

The mobile home furnace back drafts when exhaust fans are running.

It almost sounds like the blower motors, have somehow reverse polarity and are running backwards. Strange as it may seem, it's possible. Also, check for and remove any obstruction in the flue pipe.

Cooling fan not working

This is a thermo fan and is temperature controlled it will only start up when the vehicle gets hot. Take the vehicle for a drive and when the thermostat opens up and the temp guage on your dash gets up half way that is when the fan should start aprox.. get out of your car and leave running and check to see if its working..

If not check all wires going to plug at the fan,
although the aircon one should come on when the aircon is switched on. If you have a bit of electrical wire handy you could make 2 lengths atach to the neg and pos of battery disconnect the fan plug and attach the other ends of the wire it doesn't matter about polarity as it will just run backwards, if the fan runs then there will be a problem with the sensor or wires see an auto elec,, ******Keep hands clear of fan when ever key is in the ignition as it can start at any time******

How do you jump start a car fan to see if it works

Find the plug where the fan connects to the harness. Unplug it there and use two wires attached to the vehicles battery (a regular lamp cord will work...split the wires and attach to battery on one end, split the wires on the other end as well and twist each of them so they don't have stray strands sticking out) Touch both wire ends to the fan terminals (polarity does not matter...if wrong fan will just run backwards) If the motor does not run, it's bad. Don't touch leads of your test wire together. it will cause sparks and can quickly overheat and burn. Other items to test are fan relay, temp sending unit and fuse.Use a volt/ohm meter to check these.
Good luck

1997 suzuki intruder 800 starter is running backwards

The starter is a DC motor. If the wires are crossed the motor will run backwards. Check all the connections including the switch.

Please rate this solution. Thanks!

Cooling Fans Wont Kick In

Temp sending unit has gone out it tells the fans through the relays to come on. Those units are usually found on th block where the radiator hose couples to the motor.
