Can't connect Canon Pixma MX310 to wireless network!

I recently bought a Canon Pixma MX310. I want to share it with my roommates by connecting it to our wireless network, but we can't... With our last printer we did it with it's IP adress, but I can't find the stupid IP adress on this one... (i know it sounds pretty stupid)... does anyone know where the IP adress is? or does anyone have a better solution??

This printer does not have a network interface. There is no ip address for this printer. You must connect via usb.

Is there a way I can print wireless from my laptop through the desktop attached to the Canon Pixma MX310 printer?

Yes.
The desktop and laptop both need to be attached to the same network.

On your desktop:
Go to Control Panel, Printers and Faxes
Right click on your printer, and click on "Sharing"
Share the printer on your network

On your laptop:
Go to Control Panel, Printers and Faxes
"Add Printer"
Choose a "Network attached Printer"
Browse for the printer, and add in.

Can i connect my canon pixma mp780 using wireless feature?

The specifications for this printer reveals it has no network capabilities at all.
You can connect this printer to a computer and set it up as a shared printer and if you have a wireless router connected to this computer and printer then you can print from a laptop using a wireless connection.

How can the Canon MX310 be connected to a wireless network?

This model printer was not equipped with wireless capability, so you can't connect this to a wireless network without some extra hardware. (Canon's support page for this printer is here where all the features are listed.)

What you'll need is a USB print server that provides the link from the printer to the network. You can get a wired type like this one, which hooks to one of the wired ports on your router. You can also find wireless servers if the printer isn't located conveniently. Then the printer can be anywhere within range of the network, just like any other wireless device.

Hope this has helped. Thanks for using Fixya!

Can't find my printer manual -- is there a way to setup the CANON MX310 on wireless network? and if so, how?

From the manufacturer's web-site:

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mx_series/pixma_mx310

read the "Specifications", and look for any indication that it has a built-in wireless adapter. Also, download the manuals, to answer your "how to connect" question.

Canon mx310 won't print wirelessly from laptop. all of network is working except this. pls help. Linksys is the router, Dell running Vista is the laptop, Canon is the printer.

The MX310 is not a wireless printer. I own it and have never seen that feature anywhere in the specs either. Try the MX860 (my roommate owns it and it's VERY nice).

I need help. First, I am a bit computer challenged. I have a Canon MX310 printer that is online with a dell desktop. I have a MAC book that I would like to print from, but I don't know how to initiate...

you are interconnected via ethernet based or wireless network???

(yes) - 'share' the printer and it will be acessible by all devices on your network. Your printer will have to be connected to a PC even if it is network ready for the Mac to use it, I believe.

To 'share' your printer, right click on the printer and select 'share'. It is a simple process.

If you need more help, let me know

I hope this helps you.

Canon mx310 feeds paper w/out printing

Normal 0 Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

I need to fax something on a Canon MX310 all-in-one printer. I'm not connected to an actual phone line, I'm on a router that I share with my roommates...Can I still fax something?

not like that. A router connects a network to the internet. It works on digital signals whilst a fax works off analog signals so the two aren't compatible. You may want to try a program called bitware which specialises in faxing via the internet. But if your printer has a fax just connect it to a phone line and then you can fax stuff.
