SOURCE: HP probook 4420s stuck on mute

Locate your Fn key, and look for the speaker icon, mine is on the Ese button, yours maybe on one of the F buttons at top, once found. Press Fn key and hold now press the F key that is the speaker icon, sound shuld be restored.

No audio sound

Make sure your speakers are not muted. Also, try plugging in headphones and checking for sound.
If no sound plays through headphones or speakers, and sound is not muted, you may need to restart your computer. If that does not help your soundcard drivers may need updated.

Very possibly you muted the sound. Check the little speaker icon in the system tray. When you click it you should see if it is muted or not. Muting the speaker does not mute the headphones, as a general rule.

Hp dv71245dx cannot remove from muted state.

hi
Go to Control panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Volume. Check that Device Volume is at least halfway across the slider and that Mute is unchecked. Go to Advanced and make sure that nothing is mute. Go to Speaker Volume and set the sliders at least halfway across the slider. Go to Advanced, and in Speakers setup choose Laptop Stereo Speakers (if that's what you have). Go to Performance and choose Restore Defaults. Click Apply > OK

plz do inform if this has sorted out the problem
all the best

My laptops speakers stopped working

Have you tried a pair of headphones to see if they work?
Is the sound ouput muted? (a lot of laptops have a physical button to
do this...

check to see if the laptop is muted. Also, check the
volume control to see if everything is up where it should be, including
Speaker Out.

If I've got this all straight, the only thing that it can be is an
issue with the plug on the speakers and the jack on the laptop.

Obviously the computer is putting out sound to the headphone jack as
evidenced by your ability to listen through headphones. The speakers
work on another computer. So, it has to be something specific about
the Speakers on this laptop. Plug/Jack problem is the only thing that
comes to mind.

Cannot hear sounds through headphones

if you are able to hear normally from the speakers and not from the headphones possible reasons could be:
the audio is muted or very low
there is a mute switch on the headphone that is turned on
the headphone is not firmly plugged in or is in the wrong site eg microphone
hope it helps
please inform if it helps..

NO SOUND WITH HEADPHONES

Update driver, gotohttp://www.via.com.tw/en/support/drivers.jsp select OS and choose Audio then VIA HD Audio Codec 1708b. If this does not work, click mute and un-mute ontaskbar when there is no sound. I have had the same problem (sometimes) when using certain headphones, and pausing video, then playing video, sometimes the headphones have no sound, but if I unplugged headphones, the speakers work.I plug headphones back in, no sound. So i press the mute button twice.
