If the drive cannot be accessed then the logic board on the hard drive is toast. U can remove the sata drive and install it into a working desktop with sata connections and see if the desktop recognizes it.

When installing on another computer, make sure that you are still booting up from the working sata drive originally there. If you change the bootup sequence to the allegedly non working drive and it does work you may corrupt the operating system in the bootup process. Just put it in there and see if the other computer boots up and recognizes it. Often if a hard drive is really bad the defective unit will prevent a good working computer from booting up at all.

hi, your HDD is starting to fail. there are many replacement available in the market. but i recommend seagate sata hdd 2.5 its not so expensive 500gb more or less $60 in peso 2.5k

you can remove the HDD from the damaged system and mount it in a USB HDD enclosure and connect it to any other system.

The smallest hard drive that can be purchased is approx. 100Gb. You need a Windows installation CD, and provided you have the product installation code (it should be on a Windows label on the bottom of the laptop) installation is fairly straight forward. You may be able to get a Windows CD from a computer shop, they may install Windows for you at a cost. You need to download the device drivers for the laptop from the Gateway WEB site.

If these are external drives scan them "offline, Or off network" with AVG free as well as run Adaware personal Plugged into another machine and do NOT let it auto-run on load..(May infect the running machine).... Post back.. (Weve seen viruses say RAW Drive volume @ 57k partitions with 20 gigs of data/space being used).. Good luck!

Sonds like the hard drive is physically damaged. was it subjected to shock or did it fall?
