Status light is red

The status light is red. The other lights are off. Pushing the job cancel and go lights at the same time does nothing. I opened and closed all of the doors. The printer makes no warming up noises, even when I unplug and then turn back on.

also take off the front cover. Pull the tabs on the side. Pull out the
big toner and cartridge. Do you see the blue tab? Slide the tab from
right to left 30 times. Pull out the black cartridge and check for a
paper jam. Replace the cartridge and toner and reinsert into the
printer.reset after replacement that is Turn the printer on and see if the light goes on.

If that doesnt work, then check for paper jam open the back cover and pull down the black cover to see if there is any paper jam on the roller.

    Turn
off your printer. However you are connected, whether it be usb or other
wise please unplug. Hold down the go button and turn the printer on. Keep
the go button down the whole time. All led's should be lit. Release the
go button. Let the printer do its thing for a second. Hit the go button
8 times exactly. This resets everything. Plug your usb or other back in.

if it still persist then try this,

    Open
the back cover again and pull down the black cover. Do you see the
little one inch tab holder in the middle. Keep an eye on your paper
light and move it to the left and push it up to the roller, if that
doesnt work move it to the right and then push it up. Keep an eye on
the red paper button.and you ll be back to printing fully

If the status led goes red after the boot cycle and none of the motors started that means normally that one of the optical sensors is jammed.
Most of the times its an actuator in the fuser that is jammed in the "paper jam" position.

There are also 2 buttons, one in the left front and one in the right back to detect weither front and rear door are closed. You have to open the covers to access these buttons.
A second optical detector in the fuser detects if the fuser clear jam door is open or closed.
It could be that one as well.

When you remove the cartridge, seperate the toner from the drum kit, many times between those 2 items remains a little piece of shredded paper that sits on top of one of the registration actuators. (the 2 flags under the cartridge)

If none of this would help i fairly think the engine board or main pcb is damaged

The 1st thing to do is disconnect the printer for 10 minutes and see if it resets itself.

Cancel print job with a linux operating system

HI,
You've sent a print job to your printer and the green light is blinking, but the printer is not printing. The light blinks for a very long time.
The blinking light indicates that the printer is recieving your print request and will print shortly. If the document you are attempting to print is very large or contains many graphics or images, the printer must spool this data into its memory before printing. This can take quite a bit longer than usual. PDF files are notorious for taking longer than other document types.

In this case, it is best to wait a period of time before taking action. Give the printer 10 minutes and see if it prints.

If it does not print within this window of time, do the following.

1. In the bottom right corner of your screen, you will see a small printer icon. Double click on this icon to open the printer job menu.
2. You will see your print job located there, with other information, including its status.
3. Select the job by right clicking on it and select Cancel.
4. The job should cancel itself.
5. Unplug the printer, removing all power and leave it sit for a couple of minutes.
6. Plug the printer back in and allow it to go through its start up phase until the "Ready" indicator light is solid. This indicates that the printer is ready to recieve jobs.
7. You may now attempt to print again.

Thanks,

Status stopprintatus

I did not understand sir, what you want to ask.If you want to rename the file then its not possible on machine. You can just give print commands.you cannot edit it or rename the documents to be printed through machine.Every time you will check job list there will be an option to stop printing or CANCEL.If you want to make a copy then simply place the original in document feeder or onto the glass then simply press the START button. Its best to select the tray first. If red light glows then check the trays are properly closed.Check if tray is empty then load paper.Every time any error comes on machine it will appear on screen. When red light glows, kindly check if there is some indication appeared on screen or instructions, then please follow it or explain the problem in detail which you are facing.ALL THE BEST!

4 red lights on printer won't work

The printer operator panel has two buttons and sixlights (the Continue button is both a light and button). Lights indicate the status of the printer. Buttons are usedto continue or cancel the current print job. The lights are represented byReady/Data light, Toner Low/Replace PC Kit light, Load/Remove Paper light,Paper Jam light and Error light. Since you've mentioned that printer has 4 red lights,we would like to know which light is it. Please provide us more information. For further assistance, please contact LexmarkTechnical Support.

New HL-5240 printer red status light upon powering up

My HL-5240 did the same thing, Here is what I found:

Look at the back of the printer. Pull down the back cover. Look to the right and the left of the exposed internals of the printer and there should be another handle/knob you can pull down. Pull these both down simultaneously and check to make sure there isn't a piece of paper in there! This was a shock to me! My office printer was held up for days until I found this hidden door in the back! I felt like an idiot that it was from a stupid paper jam!

I have (4) documents to print, but it won't print. It says: 4 document(s) pending owner

To cancel a print job in Windows you can use one of the following two methods:

CANCELLING A PRINT JOB WITH THE PROGRESS METER:
When you send a print job to the printer, the Status Monitor will appear in the bottom right corner of your screen. Another printer icon for the PROGRESS METER will also appear in the taskbar while printing is taking place. This PROGRESS METER is there so you can manage print priorities or cancel print jobs.

1. Highlight the print job in the PROGRESS METER box.
2. Click on DOCUMENT and CANCEL, or, right click on the job name and left click CANCEL or DELETE.
3. Confirm cancelling the print job.

CANCELLING A PRINT JOB FROM THE PRINTERS WINDOW:
If no PROGRESS METER appears, you can access the document queue in this fashion:

1. Open START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL, PRINTERS (START, CONTROL PANEL, PRINTERS and FAXES in Windows XP).
2. Right click on your Epson printer name, left click PURGE PRINT JOBS (98,ME), or CANCEL ALL DOCUMENTS (2000,XP). (Or, double-click on the printer name to see and modify the status of documents in queue.)
3. Confirm cancelling all documents.

Keep in mind that once information has been sent to the printer it resides in the spooling folders within Windows. It may a while for printing to stop as this data clears the system.

If the printer continues to print (ie multiple copies of a cancelled job, or garbled print) remove the rest of the paper from the printer and allow it to run out. Once an "out of paper" type error appears on your screen, cancel the documents. Once all print job information has deleted, reload the paper and press the paper feed button once to clear the red light and return the printer to a ready state.
