Wireless repeating between DG834G (WDS configuration)

If you have two of the below mentioned routers and would like to extend wireless network using repeating feature between the two then you can perform the below steps to configure wireless repeating between them.

Configuration of Wireless repeating between DG series router (Capable of WDS feature) like DG834Gv3, v4, v5, DG834N, DGN2000, DGND3300

The below steps should be performed on both the routers so as configure same wireless settings:

1. Open a web browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox or Safari).
2. Access the router, usually with http://192.168.0.1 or http://www.routerlogin.com.
3. Login to the router with the Username as "admin" and Password as "password" (please note that the Username and Password are case sensitive).
4. Click on Wireless Settings'(under Setup) from the left menu.
5. Change the network name SSID to NETGEAR123. Select security options as 'WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy)'.
6. Set the 'Authentication Type' as automatic.
7. Set the 'Encryption Strength' as 64-bit.
8. In Key 1 type a 10 digit number.
9. Apply the settings.

Now perform the steps below on the first router say router A which connects to internet through ADSL line:

1. Click on Advanced Wireless Setting in the left hand side menu.
2. Check the option for Enable Wireless Bridging and Repeating
3. Select Repeater with Wireless Client Association and enter the MAC address of the router B.
4. Click Apply.

Now perform the same steps on router B and make sure to enter the MAC address of router A on step 3 above.

The above steps would help you with the configuration of wireless repeating feature between the two DG routers as mentioned initially. The only thing that you need to take care is that both the routers should be configured with same wireless settings.

To connect to your wireless router, the router's wirelesssettings needs to be configured with the SSID, encryption etc. and also thewireless cards in all the laptops/computers needs to be configured with theserouter's wireless settings. Then the laptops/desktop computers can communicatewith your wireless router.
Connect a LAN cable from the Linksys to the LAN port on your computer.
Open a browser and enter the Linksys configuration URL
http://192.168.1.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = admin
You can protect your router by changing the default PW (write it down and putit in a safe place)
Go to the wireless configuration and set up the SSID and WPA or WPA2encryption.
Apply these settings to the wireless card in your laptop/computer.

I erased my password how can i retrieve it

All you have to do is to reset the router.
Here are the steps and instruction to restore it.
Follow the instructions.
  1. Connect your computer to the router using an Ethernet cable.
  2. Step 2 Access the router by typing "http://192.168.1.1/" into your browser window. Use "admin" as the username and "password" or "1234" as the password. These are the default user name and passwords routers ship with. If you can access the router, change the wireless networkmag-glass_10x10.gif key. If the username and password do not work, proceed to Step 3.
  3. Step 3 Locate the reset button on the back of the browser and use an unfolded paper clip to press the reset button. Hold down the button for about 10 seconds until the test light blinks.
  4. Step 4 Wait for the router to reboot--about one or two minutes. Connect to the router as instructed in Step 2. After a reset, you will have to reconfigure all router settings, but you can also change the wireless network key.
Hope this might help you.
Good luck!

If i am helpful please rate me.
Thank you.
