Hi did you change the password? To login type either http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 in your address bar in your web browser.

The routers username is admin, the default password is password or (for older routers) 1234

Try the default username and password before resetting the router to the factory defaults.

If these don't work you will need to reset the router, but be advised that by doing this you will loose all your ISP settings. So make sure have a way of restoring them. You can either do this manually by going to your ISP's website and making a note of the settings or by using an installation disk that you got from your ISP.

DO NOT RESET UNLESS YOU HAVE A MEANS OF DOING THIS  AS YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CONNECT TO THE INTERNET AFTER!

To reset

  1. Press the reset button on the back until the test light blinks. This takes about 10 seconds. (To avoid accidental resets, the small button is recessed. Use a pen or paperclip to access it.)
  2. Release the button.
  3. Wait for the router to reboot.
Log in with the default password.
If the router was not cleared, try these additional steps AFTER the router has finished rebooting.
  1. Unplug the router's power.
  2. Press and hold the reset button. While the button is held down, reconnect router's power.
  3. Continue to hold the reset button for 20 seconds after reconnecting the power.
  4. Wait for the router to reboot.
  5. Log in with the default password.

Hope this helps.

How to configure the router??? how to used the router?

To configure router it depends on whih router you are using a broadband or a wireless. Here I can so you how to setup routers in different ways. Here I have defined 5 different router to setup it.That is given bellow. How to configure linksys broadband router.
  • Connect and install your router according to the product manual.
  • Open your Web browser then check your product manual for the Web address you need to enter.
  • Enter the Web address, then enter the user name and password supplied in your manual.
  • Enter the required setup information. You'll need to call your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for this information if you don't have it already.
  • Choose the connection type you want from the drop-down menu labeled "WAN Connection Type." The connection type you need will depend on the information you receive from your ISP.
  • Click the "Apply" button to save your settings, then close the browser window.
  • Reset the power on your modem.
  • Restart your computer.
How to configure netgear wireless router.
  • Connect your high-speed modem to the Netgear wireless router with an Ethernet cable. Turn off and unplug your high-speed modem's power before connecting the device to your wireless router. Plug the Ethernet cable that was connected to your high-speed modem into the "Internet" port on the back of your Netgear wireless router. This port is located next to the wireless router's power port and is designated by a green color.
  • Connect your computer and the Netgear wireless router with an Ethernet cable. Shut down your computer before connecting it to your wireless router. Plug one end of the short, blue Ethernet cable that came with your Netgear wireless router into your computer's Ethernet jack. Plug the other end of the cable into a LAN port on the back of your wireless router. Your wireless router will have several numbered LAN ports, designated by a yellow color. It does not matter which LAN port you use.
  • Turn on each device in order. First, power up your high-speed modem, then wait at least 2 minutes. This allows it time to connect to your Internet Service Provider's (ISP) server. Make sure that your high-speed modem's status indicators show that it has successfully connected to your ISP's server. Next, plug the Netgear AC power adapter into the Netgear wireless router and a power outlet. The AC power adapter plugs into the back of the wireless router in a black-colored port labeled "Power." Wait at least 2 minutes for your wireless router to connect to your high-speed modem. You will know that it has successfully connected if all of the status lights on the front of the wireless router are on. Finally, turn on your computer.
  • Open your Web browser and connect to the wireless router's URL. In the address bar of your browser, type in the wireless router's address. The Netgear wireless router addresses are: http://www.routerlogin.net, http://www.routerlogin.com or http://192.168.1.1. You can use any one of these URLs. Press "Enter" on your keyboard once you have typed in the address.
  • Input the default user name and password. The default user name is "admin," and the default password is "password." The text boxes are case-sensitive, so it is important that you use lowercase letters.
  • Follow the Setup Wizard instructions. Once you log into the router, a Setup Wizard will load and ask if you want it to detect your Internet type. Click the "Yes" radio button, then click "Next." Once you have completed the wizard, configuration is complete, and you can access the Internet using the wireless router.
  • Configure wireless settings. If you have wireless devices that you want to connect to your Netgear wireless router, you must access your wireless settings. Log into the wireless router as described in Steps 4 and 5, then find and click the "Wireless Setting" link on the main menu. You can change the default SSID (wireless network name) from "NETGEAR" to a custom name, and you can change security settings such that a passcode is required to log onto your wireless network. When you finish changing your wireless settings, click "Apply." You must use this SSID and passcode to connect your wireless devices to your Netgear wireless router.

I can not connect my Netgear router to my computer though ethernet cable also could u tell me what a WPA key is please.

Hi Kelly, Connecting the router with cable is fairly easy and hassle-free. All you have to do is connect the router and PC using CAT5 or CAT6 Patch cable and the internet should work if the cable is fine. It is indicated by the corresponding LED on the router and LAN port LEDs of PC. WPA Key is the password required to connect wirelessly to the router. User Guide for NetGear WGR614 is available for reference.

To secure the router, first you have to access the router through web browser (Internet Explorer) by typing the IP address of your router in the address bar, which is usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 and lookup for the options to do the following: -
1. Change the SSID (Name) of the router
2. Change the default administrative user name and password (unless you've configured otherwise, the default username is admin and the password password.)
(The above step would prevent unauthorized access to your router)

Next step is to secure it:
1.On the left-hand side, under Setup, click "Wireless Settings" 2.Under "Security Options", select your desired encryption method (preferably WPA or WPA2-PSK)
3.Choose a Network Key - it can be anything, as long as it's 8-63 characters in length
4. Click Apply

Now your router and your connection would become secure and the user has to provide the network key (WPA) to access the internet.

How do i solve problem with linksys 2.4 ghz router?

Password is stored in the router, access it and retrieve pass word. If cannot remember that one you will have to reset router by pushing a straightened paper clip into the rear of the router where the pin hole is until it switches off.
WARNING this will erase your internet username and password as well.

You will have to set up secure network again. Refer to vendors site for instructions as it is too involved to describe here.

Net gear was completely disconnected from computer. net gear WPN82r v 2 was inadvertently reset. dont have a password. any help

To bypass the wizards, connect the router via an Ethernet cable, log in from a DHCP enabled (IP & DNS) computer at
    http://www.routerlogin.net/basicsetting.htm

User name is admin and the password is password, both in lower case letters.

Note that wireless connectivity is off by default. When you configure this router manually , remember to turn the wireless connectivity on.

    Ethernet Cord for Router?

    Hi,
I want to tell you that how can you get your password back or reset your wireless password.

    1. Work on your wired computer which is connected with the netgear router using ethernet cable
    2. Make sure on the rear side of your netgear router you can see four ethernet slots and one internet slot.
    3. One internet slot is only for your ISP modem and rest of the four slots you can use any computer to connect with that using ethernet cable.
    4. Click on start - Run - then type in "cmd" press enter and you will get black screen. under the black screen just type "ipconfig" you can see some information on your screen search for default gateway numbers.
    5. Once you get default gateway open IE and type those numbers without anything else then press enter.
    6. It will ask you for user name and password by default "admin" and password is " password "
    7. Once you click ok it will open netgear setting page
    8. On the left side you can see wireless setting which is under "setup" then click on that option
    9. On the middle of the screen you can scroll down that page at the bottom you can see your security key or passphrase.
    10. Or you can type new password on the same screen and apply those settings
    11. Now try again to connect your device wirelessly enter you existing password or new password which you have setup.
    12. Make sure one thing more on the left hand side you have option called "Router Status"
13 Once you click on that at the middle of the screen show you router status and you can find the option called "internet port"
