I was impressed with a quality construction of the actopp curling iron. The material is nice and high grade. This is not one of those cheaply made straighteners or gimmicks that will break after several uses. This thing is definitely going to last a long time.I'm not very good at hair curling and this product is so easy to use.love it! My favorite is a Conair curling iron. It delivers curls the way you want, and it is also very fast. Beau Clinics Non Surgical Cosmetic Treatments Bournemouth

I have a Instant Heat 1 ½" Curling Iron by conair and it won't curl my hair. I've never use a curling iron this big? Any ideas?

Try putting styling gel or hairspray that is heat resistant in your hair first before curling it. but make sure products are for heat and styling first so it wont burn your hair! I have very fine hair that is straight as an arrow, and very hard to curl so before i use any curlers or curling irons, i put styling gel or mousse in it first then once I brush it out spray it again to hold the style

Tip

How to avoid damage your hair when using a hair straightener

1. Choose a hair flat iron depend on your hair type
The plate of a flat iron can be made by different material, while some materials will straight hair in a single pass, others might require more effort. So, before you go out and buy a straightener, you need to know which plate material suits your needs.

2. Go for Adjustable temperature Controls
No matter what type of material an iron has, it can malfunction. So, always invest your money in a straightener which has low, medium and high temperature settings. Afterward, to give your hair your favorite styles, try to keep the heat as low as possible.

3. Choose Size wisely
If you have short hair, you might want to go for a smaller iron. Conversely, only if you have extremely thick hair than going for a larger iron.

4. Fully Dry Your Hair
Unless you are using a wet iron, it's imperatively you fully dry your hair before ironing them. For, if you have wet hair while ironing, boiling the moisture out of them might do serious damage.

5. Use a heat protectant
Better be safe than be sorry. You don't want your hair to lose too much moisture while ironing. So, you might want to apply a heat protectant which will retain moisture in the face of excessive heat.

6. Don't heat one section for too long
While ironing hair, it is best that you divide them into different parts. Afterward, straighten each part for a specific time period which shouldn't be too long. For example, if you are using a flat or curling iron, it is essential that you never heat a single section of air with it for more than 5 seconds.

How to get Braun curling iron to heat?

Delilah, if it is a new curling iron and you plug it into a known good working outlet and does not heat up, it is defective. Return it to store for replacement or refund. If it is older and out of warranty, it is probably burnt out limit switch or may need rewired with new plug and cord(probably not cost effective, unless you can test and change)

Anyone got good advice how I can avoid getting a hair iron burn?

Here's a tip that I find really helpful - stick a thin plastic comb between your scalp and the curling iron. It will stop the iron from getting too close to the scalp.

What do the different sizes on hair irons mean?

The different sizes allow you to create different looks, so you have to bear that in mind before you buy. If you want loose curls and beachy waves then go for an iron that is about 1 to 2 inches in diameter. If you want smaller, tighter rings then go for one that is between .75 and 1 inch in diameter.
