Problems texting with my son's Sidekick Lx and Sidekick 2008

Spent hours on phone with T-mobile sidekick dept. with no results... over a month ago my son's LX stopped texting keeps saying "your message can't be sent try again later" T-mobile went through all the trouble shooting stuff they have......... I even bought him a new sidekick 08 thinking that would solve the problem and whalaa it did for about 15 min he texted like crazy then it stopped again, even after we put a new sim card............... T-mobile keeps jerking me off, saying the only thing they can do is put a service ticket which means an engineer comes out to my area and checks if something is wrong with my sons phone, this was on the 9th of Jan. also they said this can take up to 2 months, I said what exactly am I suposed to do for that 2 months........ they cant fix the problem and they pretty much are no help whatso ever, they can't tell me if other sideckck customers in my area are having the same problem.................. I'm at my wits end with these idiots......... as far as trouble shooting we have done everything over and over and thats also frustrating...........I can do a soft and hard reset and the phone text for a few messages then same message "message not sent trym again later... please help

    oh yea forgot to mention also when my son goes to start typing in the messgae area as long as the message box is blank he can use the space button but once he typs a letter thats it it wont space anything anymore so evrything runs together T-mobile has no explanation for this either I think the 2 problems have to be related.

    ok I'm remebering little things here as I sit and think about it..................... FYI my son has no problems recieving text messages at all just the sending or replying part......... also my son said he can send a picture message with no problems just the text is a problem............... if it was a network thing would he not be able to send any messages ? I have the G! and have no texting problems .

    thanx for the last answer but I don't think my sons sidekick runs on the 3g I know my G1 does, also on average how long does it take before the engineers actually come to my area ?

    T-mobile actually walked me through a bunch of troubleshooting steps including soft and hard resets. as far as the new phone no all the settings are good to go, like i said for abouit 15 min he was texting like crazy then it went to POOP

T-Mobile is aware of this common issue they are having. Since the release of the Sidekick 2008, they have had to tweak and modify their existing Data Plans they offer to incorporate the new device. Apparently somewhere they messed up and caused a glitch which caused texting issues with the Sidekick as well as many other phones. Have them go into your account and make the appropriate changes to fix the error and you will be able to text again.

Give them a call again and see if they can help. Chances are you probably got a lazy CSR last time who didn't want to do the research and fix the issue.

If they say that they can not fix it,tell them to cancel the text plan,
wait 2 hours,Then call them back and add texting to tour plan.

1. Open the AutoText & Spelling screen. From the Jump screen, press the MENU button, then select Settings > AutoText & Spelling.

2. Uncheck the following settings:

    • Highlight misspelled words
    • Auto correct spelling

3. Exit out of the settings screen and try it out.

Hopefully, this will have solved your issue.

How to check for misspelled words with these two options unchecked?

Run a manual spell check on T-mobile Sidekick: To run a spell check while in a text field from any Edit Text submenu, or by using the keyboard shortcut by pressing MENU +S.

Tell them you want to turn the phone in for another phone..surely theres a warranty with it and i would tell them simply to let you trade in or up to another phone. tell them you are having too many problems with the one you have now and would rather trade it in at a local dealer or go to the dealer and trade it in.

Sounds Like A Manufacturing Error I'd Take It To The T-mobile Store And Tell Them You Want Another One And Sit In The Store To Make Sure The Next One Continues To Work.

Hi, did you change any settings since you got the new piece ? If not, the problem is with Verizon.

Welcome to Fixya! Unfortunately this Problem is NOT on Your end. This is a Problem with the Service Provider and they need to check the Towers in your Area. I went through the Same thing with ATT on my New LG Vue and it was the new 3G Network not Working Properly.

Possibly due to too much traffic in the network, how about you try a cheap prepaid on the phone and see if you can text out fine? other network if possible.

It says just Network lock only,You need to enter the Code if it locked Network mean.You can get the Unlock code at here

Sidekick lx screen went blank isnt working..


You can try to reseat the lcd cable and make sure it is tight. It that fails then you will need to replace the LCD screen

I have same problem, I bought this phone 6 month ago.


You will need to re-pair your phone with the earpiece. The best option is to contact your local cellular rep and get them to assist or go to the store where you purchased the earpiece.

Sidekick 2008 craked screen


Contact Mega Mobile Boston Repair Center. www.MegaMobileBoston.com, 617 573 0073. They sell replacement screens for most phones: including SideKick 2008, Sidekick LX, and all other sidekick screens and parts - trackballs, bumpers ect... They can also install the screen for you - if you send them your phone they fix it and mail it back. Hope this helps

SIDEKICK ID!!!!!!


I have a sidekick 2008 that is unlocked with a universal unlocking chip.
I had the same problem, and I spent hours and hours online looking for a solution. Soft resets, full resets, turning wireless off then on, turning my phone off then on. None of it worked.
What did work, was when I desperately needed to send a text, I put my simcard (vodafone network) into my old vodafone phone. After I put it back into my sidekick, and voila, it worked! Not sure why. But every now and then my sidekick gets stuck on emergency calls only and error NET9, I put my sim in a vodafone phone (for you which ever network your sim is from) then back into my sidekick, and it works again.
