Question about GE Profile Spectra JGBP90 Gas Kitchen Range

1 Answer

Bottom gas oven will not light

GE Spectra bottom gas oven will not light. Top works fine. This just happen. Have not cleaned oven, just turned it on this morning. I removed the bottom pan and see that the small electrical piece will not come on. No smell of gas. Can I replace this by removing the two screws or will it have to be done by someone else, and what is the part called.

Thanks,

Richard Hutchinson

Ignitor. Easy fix.The new part comes with 2 high temp wire nuts. The wire is extra long. I would cut the old one at the base just to make it easier to replace.Remove the door to make life easier.

My pilot light wont light and my oven will not come on the gas top burners are fine how do i fix this problem

Later model ovens don't usually have an actual pilot light in the form of a flame. It is usually some type of a spark or heated coil ignition system. It is usually located under the flame spreader and bottom plate in the oven. It is a safety system to keep gas from collecting in your home. You can remove the oven bottom and see the mechanism close by to the gas inlet tube. When you turn the gas on, you should be able to see either a small spark or bright red coil. A replacement can be purchased and installed, but it is probably a job for a technician.

GE Spectra TrueTemp Oven Pilot is Out

REmove bottom panel from stove. shut gas off for at LEAST 5 min. Longer is better. Then placel open flame above gas nozzle, slowly turn to ignite posiiton. After it is lit, wait 30 seconds and turn to on positon.
If by chance this model doens't have a knob for this, then turn gas valve off for 5 min, let fumes evaporate, light flame, place over nozzle, turn gas on.replace bottom oven panel slowly.

XL44 GE oven not working. Bottom burner not getting gas.

You probably have a bad ignitor. If the ignitor does not draw at least 3.5 amps the gas valve will not open. This is a safety feature.

Ge profile self cleaning oven

Usually you would remove the racks and clean the food remaining on them and also the bottom of the oven before turning the self cleaning on.

Where do I light my gas oven?

Hello Slacker3158 how old is this oven? I only ask as GE hasn't built a standing Pilot range in over 18 yrs. The issue may be a bad oven ignitor. Put the oven on broil, if it works then the bake ignitor is bad. It is found under the bottom of the oven. There is 2 to 4 screws inside the oven that allows the bottom to be removed.
