The memory specification for the Thinkpad R51 is as follows:-

  • 64-bit Double Data Rate (DDR) non-parity SDRAM memory
  • PC2700 at 333MHz
  • Two 200 pin SO-DIMM memory slots, one slot is pre-populated with 128MB, 256MB or 512MB, leaving one socket available
  • Supports up to two 1GB SDRAM SO DIMMs
  • Supports maximum memory up to 2GB

The memory modules are located behind a screwed panel on the bottom of the laptop.

After the panel is removed there is a DIMM slot where the memory module sits. Push the edge on the module into the slot (there is a notch on the edge of the contacts and it will only fit in one way) and then lower the module until the side clips lock the memory module into place.

On the bottom of the laptop there are one or two panels, remove the screw securing the panel. The RAM module are behind one of the panels. If the memory module does not fit in the memory slot, then you have the wrong type and you need to purchase the correct memory type.
Your friendly computer shop can advise you on the correct type and speed of the memory module your laptop requires.

The RAM cover is on the bottom of the laptop under a screwed panel.

When you remove the panel there is a DIMM memory slot, insert the memory module into the slot, there is a notch on the edge of the module and it will only fit in only one way, the lower the card until the side clips lock the module into place.

Want to upgrade RAM for my Laptop, Lenovo G50-80. Can any one please suggest any Lenovo authorised Laptop service center in Dubai?

I am not aware of any in Dubai. You can upgrade up to 16Gb.
See link for details. It is not complicated to replace the RAM.

Specs say the Lenovo G560 067999U has max memory of 8gb. ordered 2x4gb for the total 8 upgrade and it won't take the 8. it will see 6gb not 8. did anyone else come up with this issue?

Hi, i have same notebook but not the same problem.
Maybe your graphic card taking some of memory or they make mistake in the PC shop.
Download CPU-Z utility http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html (download is on the right side)
Run it and go on Memory tab where you see your total RAM memory then you can go to SPD tab and see what memory exactly is installed in every slot.
Hope it will help you :)

Lenovo 3000 y410 graphic card upgrade?

Lenovo Y410 System RAM can handle up to 2GB of memory. Since the machine has 2 slots for RAM and you already have 1GB preinstalled with the computer all you need to purchase is another stick of 1GB RAM.

There is no chance of upgrading Graphics card since it doesnt have a video card slot and the preinstalled VCARD is onboard.

Should you have any other questions just please leave a comment.

Cheers~

How can I upgrade/improve the capabilities of my Inspiron 1200

The best and quickest improvement is to add more RAM. Add another 512 Mb of RAM. If you already have a 512 Mb of RAM module then add another 512 Mb RAM module. If your laptop has 2X256 Mb RAM modules then you need to remove these and insert 2X512 Mb RAM modules.
The reason why you have 504 Mb RAM is that the video card has grabbed 8Mb of RAM off the main memory.

How to put extra memory in Lenovo T60 laptop

Ok the RAM location is actually underneath the touch pad on the top of your keyboard. However, to get to the memory area where you can add/remove RAM cards you need to do the following:
STEP 1) On the botton the latop you should see 4 screws that have a "memory chip" ICON. These are the 4 screws you want to take out. (important note: my T60 has 4 screws with this icon, yours might have 5). Please the screws somewhere secure so they are not lost.
STEP 2) After you take out the screws noted in step 1. Flip your laptop and open it up as if you were going to type something.
On each side just below the keys pull up gently and the botton portion that has the touch pad will come up. You want to pull it back towards you. You won't be able to complete remove it away from the laptop, because there's a ribbon cable connecting the touch pad. So just move the piece back toward you out of the way (in essence peeling it back toward you).
STEP 3) You should now see the RAM card(s) they will have a bracket mechanism on each side of the RAM card, push them outward to unlock the RAM card (if your removing.
STEP 4) If your ADDING RAM. Evaluate if you need to remove existing cards or not. To install RAM you insert the new card in the slot, then push it down and it should snap int place.
STEP 5) Place the touch pad plate back into position and push it to snap down.
STEP 5) Close laptop cover, flip over and insert the screws back into their positions.
