P0604

Hi there:

P0604 - GM
Type: Powertrain Computer and Auxiliary Outputs - ISO/SAE Controlled
Description: Control Module Random Access Memory Fault Conditions
Cause: Key on for at least 5 seconds, system voltage over 10v, then the PCM detected that the internal data test (RAM) failed • Refer to code repair chart for instructions on how to replace a PCM and how to reprogram the replacement

This code is a fairly simple one. It basically means that the PCM/ECM (powertrain/engine control module) has detected an internal integrity fault in the PCM.

Hope this helps.

After turning on the tv, the power goes on and off automatically

Hi.

The TV goes into protect mode because a internal fault is detected. Protect mode is a forced standby mode that starts when an internal fault is detected. The TV power board supplies power in different voltages. When in protect mode the PSU higher voltages are shuts down. The only PSU line that remains live is +5VDC.

All you can do at user level is turning off the TV and disconnect the power cord for about ten minutes. This will drain power from the TV circuits and can fix temporary problems caused by the accumulation of electrostatic charge in internal components.

If after the power drain the TV still does not restart, then internal components must be tested and repaired. The job must be done by a trained technician. To book a technician or to order parts call the phone number listed on the owners manual.

Tv will not turn on, the red light is on at all times and dims then brightens.

Hi.

The TV switching itself off with the red light is the way the fault mode tries to tell you that there is a problem. As the internal fault is detected, the TV gets switched off to prevent more damage to internal components.

The TV starts in forced standby. The state is also called "Protect Mode". Protect mode kicks in when an internal fault is detected. The error is detected by protection circuit and the PSU is forced in standby mode, shutting down all voltage lines apart the 5VDC line that keep the standby mode on.

Try disconnecting the power cord for ten minutes, reconnect after ten minutes and restart the TV with no device connected.

If that does not help it means that there is an internal fault and that the TV must be tested and repaired replacing the defective part.

The defective part is usually the PSU. Among components that fail quite commonly there are the capacitors on the power board. If the capacitors look swollen or if there is trace of damage on PSU board, then the affected parts must be de-soldered and replaced. If there is no evidence of damage at a glance the parts must be tested using a multimeter and following schematics from service manual.

If you need to call a technician use the phone number listed on the owners manual or on the manufacturer support web page.

The gauge in my yamaha fz6 2006 is blinking, the manual says there is a electrical circuit problem. I check all the ligths nad fuses and they seem in order, what else could it be?

I believe you count the amount of blinks to read the codes. First blinks are first number, and second set of blinks are second number. Chaz Moto DC

Clicking with no Sound

The TV is on protect mode. This happens when an internal fault is detected. When a fault is detected the protection circuit prevents the TV from starting , the clicking sound is the protection switch that keeps turning off the TV.
Sometimes protection is triggered by an incorrect voltage, or electrostatic charges accumulating on the TV PSU capacitors. In that case the problem is temporary, and will disappear leaving tv unplugged for some times. More often, when tv goes on protect there is an internal fault that must be fixed.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

Also ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or dvd connected.

If that does not work, and you keep having a flashing led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , startingthe flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then theTV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

Protection on error message

Protect mode will kicking whenever a fault is detected.

Causes that can start protect mode are:

Electrostatic harges on internal circuits.
Leave the unit unplugged for power for one hour or so, this will allow discharge.

Bad speaker wiring.
Check speaker wiring, try unplugging and plugging back, or start after removing one speaker at the time.

Internal fault.
Internal fault is the natural cause for protect mode. If all the above did not work, then the problem is a blown component or an internal fault. In this case the unit must be taken apart , tested and repaired by an experienced person.
If the unit is less than one year old, or if you want to get service, call Sony at the phone number listed on the product documentation.
